nme has a decent article up like this aimed at the smashing pumpkins and even as a fan i couldnt agree more with what was said, siamese dream is one of my fave albums but has been downhill from there.
any others that should hang up the guitars? i would pick;
AC/DC (making records, not performing live)
Guns n Roses
Rage Against the Machine
Queen/Paul Rogers
basically old bands making the same albums lol , and most reformations.

Some bands should just never have been bands at all, but we can't change that unfortunately. Although I'm a huge U2 fan I get sick of everyone slagging off this new album despite it's true awesomness, so I kind of wish they had retired sooner so no one would sl*g them off.

i think its bad to say anyone should never of been a band, i dont really think much of the stone roses or the smiths but you would all slate me for that.

Of course there is bands that should never have been, Wombats for one, they contribute f*ck all to music, just a waste of the trusty jewel box, plenty more.
