i recon the new album will be really different to what we've heard from them before, it really could go two ways. i really dont know what to expect. we all heard about the qotsa desert sessions stuff, but did owt come of them?
a lot of arctic monkeys fans know what they want, and they have provided two excellent albums.....but this new one could be a complete different direction which might not grasp everyone like the last 2 have done.
id be interested to see what theyre planning on playing for the festivals, because i just cant associate alex turner with the 1st album anymore. the gmex gigs were wierd, ending with if you were there beware.....then alex turner just throwing the guitar on the floor at the end of the apollo gig.....was all a bit wierd.

the live performances were abit shit based on that appolo dvd but ive seen a gig in spain at the razzamatazz n it was class so it aint the tunes. i agree with upton some heavier stuff would be class, could happen if its QOTSA influenced.
i think its ridiculous to say they should split though, cus turner is a class writer n has it in him to do as many great albums as he wants ( or so i think). would never call a band great after 2 albums anyway. well not in the context of best ever anyway you get what i mean.

To say that they should split is simply fear that they will produce a poor 3rd album, but you have to put your faith into them, surely Turner is far to class to make that mistake.

He already made on in my book The Last whatever they f**k they where called lost a lot of respect for him with that. Can i ask why? As a side project it was very good and has not interfeared at all with the Arctics stuff. Just an extra outlet. I think the new stuff will be top. If you watch the latest Matt helders diary update called 'the view from....' you get to here some of their tracks. You cant make out lyrics but the tunes sound really good. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAxLbmjnDbAIt would be criminal for tem to break up.

I said fair play with the Shadow Puppets stuff at first, and even though it didn't interfer with Arctic stuff I thought it was fairly poor in comparison, but so long as it doesn't effect the Monkey stuff they I'm good with it, no matter how poor it may be.

Fair enough. Everyones tastes are different. I thought they were good. I liked what they did. Half of the album was class, the other half was not up to the same standard. However, they have some really good b sides that are better than a fair bit of the album as well that I bet many of you have not heard. If you have then fair enough but check out songs like Hang the cyst, gas dance, Sequels and two hearts in two weeks. I think you will def like the last one I listed. Bit more up tempo.
I also thought lyrically it was impressive, and kept up with Turners high standards.

lyrically it was genius and a nice little change, loved it personally.
tracks 1-8 are flawless (exlcuding only the truth). not a bad word to say and if abit of this crept into some of arctics slow tracks on the new album id be very happy.

The fact of liking it or not is a different matter, some do and some don't, but I think to say that it effected the Monkeys stuff or that it has put you of them is bullshit because they haven't even released anything since Shadow Puppets album so you can in no way shape or form judge them on that, maybe this time next year you will be able to say 'told you so', but for now you can't make such strange accusations.
