i like to think of morrissey as being more a realist than doom and gloom. ....but then maybe that just makes me sound as negative as he?
talk about bands that should never exist....i come from a place where the idea of good music is nickelback. are you all subjected to nickelback? oh the horror.

cemetrygatecrasher, we are unfortunately, that god damn 'rock star' song haunted me for months upon months, one of the worst bands I've heard in a long time.

i work with this sweet girl sarah who was desperately trying to find a man for a bit. she went on match.com and was sitting on it at work showing me pictures and EVERY ONE of the guys on the site had "I LOVE NICKELBACK!!" and she couldn't understand why I was laughing so hard. I think I stumbled right out the room.

Haha, great story. I remember hearing 'How You Remind Me' years ago at me cousins house, loving it at first hear (before I had musical taste, forgive me) and looking back I want to know what trauma I must have been going through at the time to even contemplate liking it. Horribly annoying band.

another example that is so obvious it is perfect... eminem released a new video recently. said video? -exactly- like his first single/video save that it has more up to date pop culture jabs.
i think the worst example of a CD i owned and adored that i hate to admit is Jimmy Ray. also...savage garden--but in my defense i was....fourteen maybe? & i stole both CDs. and i was also listening to the velvet underground @ the time so i couldn't have been a -complete- idiot, even then.

Haha, love it, you stole them. The only CD which is embarrasing that I have ever liked is The Fray How To Save A Life, I really liked it at some point, still have it, but couldn't understand why people thought they were so shite.

arctic monkeys - preserve the greatness.
if they pack it in with 2 great albums, they will go down as one of the greatest bands this country has seen.
controversial choice, but with alex turner bumming off to new york etc... and after seeing jamie cook wearing a vest with skull on it out in New Zealand, it could be time to call it a day.

See what the next album brings Dec, becuase going out on 3 great albums will be better then 2, big risk though. Usually, any band that caries on to make many an album are either one of the greats (beatles), or just try to hard to stay great (oasis). So if they go on for much longer then I suppose, they will have to do some danm awesome stuff.
