So has anyone been taking photos or gathering ought for the tour special, I've just been bookmarking links from the internet so far. I'll make a folder for each date then it'll be all organised ;D I'm going with "Not Enough Paper in the World" for the fanzine name now, so that's sorted! Got an idea I'm working on with Amber* for the front cover. *Sorry I haven't got back to you yet but I've not had much time over the last few days  I'm getting back on track now though, as I've tidied up some loose ends (like the guide on the gigography for our coming soon new staff member). Fanzine or not?I've been thinking a lot on the format, it's definately going to be a 'fanzine', no more talk about fan clubs. The size has been a major concern to me! I did want something very special and was going to have it as a 7" gatefold with it housing the fanzine which slips out! That was just a dream... Funding and resources are limited for me at the moment so I think it will have to be A5 (A4 folded over) as I would be able to produce it myself then, so any money that would have be used for printing can be used to make something very 'DIY' indeed! I'm nearly there with my saving up for one of those cutting machines, been doing quite a bit of research on them lately though and have find a lot of negatives about the model I was saving for! More research then... I have a lot of other ideas and have been writing everything down, so I'll go through it and post some more thoughts tomorrow  Come on now share your ideas.... |

fastfuses idea for the name is brilliant, think it was him anyway. I'm idealess at the moment (not sure that's a word). I've never seen a fanzine so I aint sure what goes in them. I will leave it to tthe pro's.

I got some really good pics at Newcastle as was rite at the front - got a few in manc as well so once you are sorted will post those...anything else you want help with gig review etc I will be happy to help..I have loads of pics as well from hollyoaks when I went to see them there

got a few tickets, a backstage pass, stage times and signed dressing room poster and setlist.
ill get them scanned up, and ill post them up on photobucket or something?

They'll do for me Cal - all your material sounds great and will great to have the dressing room sign - It'll be great if they were all high quality scans, it'll give me something to work with then It could be used at the start of the 'tour special' ?? The backstage pass could be a great addition too, maybe it could be used for another little feature in the spesch! Maybe if we got an interview with the band, it could be something like "Backstage with The Courteeners" ?? Things are certainly looking up but do you think we can get this out for the start of November ?? With only a couple of weeks to go it's not looking good but I don't think it should be rushed for the sake of it getting it out for the end of tour. So what do you lot reckon ?? |

Hummm....Why not make the fanzine in A3 sizes. And fold into A5 then? What do you think??? Will look like a poster.

No worries Amber, I hadn't even finished the 'design pack' but it's done now & emails have been sent to the people who have offered to help with the design/art/graphics. It's a download job but all info is in the email... As for the size, A5 is the only one for now as I can't risk any other size due to printing costs and lack of resources etc. Thanks again to everyone who will be getting tour material to me
Update...I think it's about time I let you know a few of the ideas I've had for the fanzine... History of the Band - This will be an illustrated regular feature, with like a comic strip of the history and formation of the band, this will also feature more detailed accounts of important events and then go on to form a band family/event tree! I need help to research this and then pass over the info to the artists ;D Anyone know the bands history? or has inside knowledge? Or you could be an actual Courteener? Please help me out with this as it's going to be a cracker! Tour Special - The gathering of material is going ok but I still need loads more but I'm sure by the end of the tour there will be plenty to choose from. I have started to work on the format of the article, only the opening pages at the moment but I have a few ideas to work with.
Other possible articles I may have mentioned some of these before but these are the possible articles/features/pages for issue 1:
News: Diary/Calender - All news could be displayed as a calender with the main news of the band could be given more space by going into a diary entry or something?? Cals Rant - As before, this would be everything that's doing his head in but it could be a combination of that & his views on the bad press about the band, calling it "No Musical Education" ?? Song Meanings - Delving deep into the lyrics and where they originated - could also be the progression of the lyrics if there have been several different versions - why change the lyrics etc. In the Forum - Yeah of course we have to have a regular feature! What has been going on in the forum, maybe an interview with ME!
The CD - The cover/giveaway cd should have a few pages about the content etc OR even 'the making of the cd'. Band Interview - We just have to get an end of tour interview for the fanzine (maybe even recorded for the cd), I know a lot more of you are closer to the band - so if your up for this get in touch Lyrics/Tab/Chords - 'Play like The Courteeners' is a possible title for this but this has to be special! I have already mentioned dotthetimes idea for the bands/Liam's writing in the fanzine, well this could be the very article for that. Maybe Liam could write the lyrics to a song & add notes/chords/tab, so you too can play like the band??? Whoever gets the interview will have to pursued Liam to do this, it would be like the band very own bit in the fanzine  That's all for now... remember any help is appreciated, cheers! |
