Sorry Ste but I thought I'd get this all up and running for you within the projects, sorry for taking over but just thought it'll be better if I created the thread in the appropriate board Ste amongst others have caused a bit of a stir within the forum with a letter they wrote about the NME's pitiful journalism when reviewing The Courteeners track NYDNYD on 3 separate occasions. Here's the original posting: No you didn'nt...NME reviewAnd this is the thread where it carried on: Lets stick it to NME... I'm starting it as a thread first to see how much interest this generates, I can really see this kick off though, let's bring back the good old fanzine ;D I know this originated from being a rival to the NoMarkExpress (I'm still playing the game but can't remember if anyone's put that one!) but would be great to have our own fanzine too Ste, Fergal and Cardinals of Langley I'm sure would be interested in a role in the fanzine, tell me what you think lads. I want to hear/see everyone's idea/suggestions/designs for this, get involved it'll be a great side project for the community!

Mega stuff that ^
I think personally, you should include other bands (i know this is a Courteeners forum and all) but The Courteeners arnt constantly going to have stuff to write about, if you use more bands, you can compete with NME in a wider aspect... If you get me lol

Yeah I know what you mean, it'll probably be a bi-monthly issue with the competing NME one more regular like you have said Sorry to nick the name, have it back by all means and we'll come up with something else for The Courteeners fanzine

So far, the fanzine idea has developed into a bi-monthly fanzine on The Courteeners. I only want to be a designer/publishing/marketing dogsbody and then do the general check of content is alright to print, so we'll need to fill these roles: • Editor • Co-Editor OR Deputy Editor • Writers All depends on where we go for with the content but those are the main jobs available. I know loads of members can write and are real at expressing their views and will be interesting to see who wants to do it. Cheers

sounds good. how would u go about distributing the fanzine? or will it be an internet only job? Good Question. I want it to be in physical form, let's rekindle the love of the paper fanzine, a bit of cut 'n paste, some b/w photocopied images but seriously I want us to make a more up-to-date version in the same style if you know what I mean? Yeah I used to love getting hold of those A5 hurriedly put together out of date pieces of shite! Sorry I'm being a bit harsh as some of them were real good and worked along side the band for exclusives and fresh news Anyway, to answer your question, a physical release would be sold in a born again S&C Catalogue. This is going to take a while to get running smoothly, with job roles etc etc etc so I'm looking for committed people to work with me on this. Could be an ideal change for any students as well, maybe as course work or whatever it's called nowadays ;D

i think this is a great idea darren! I would love to do a bit of writing, heres some ideas i have*We could also look at other bands based in mcr (i've got a load of up and coming bands in mind) *or similar bands, *support acts (the beggars, it's a buffalo), *influences (laura marling, the cribs etc) *speak to the fans? band? *bands/artists influenced by the courteeners (i.e cal, ecb etc, if they don't mind that is ) *Look into the lyrics and meanings (on the corner Fairfield street, fallowfield hillbilly, middleton to withington for a visual effect!), *find out who the songs are based on? *find out about the formation of the band, liam and conans solo stuff? whether they've been in bands before *bands they've supported *early gigs and some of the sh*t venues they've had to play! *look at it from a none musical perspective aswell, like what other interests they have lets get some ideas on the table guys ;D

Thats a class idea, fcred, you've thought long and hard with this. I'll gladly help with this, perhaps G could help us out with this one, on the front of getting potentially an interview with the band? Cos if someone from us lot managed to get like 15 mins or sumat with them (a chunk out of their busy schedule ) we'd be able to milk it out for ages in a fanzine like, easy.

Looks like Kyle's a prime candidate for Editor, great ideas mate, I think you could easily take over this and put together a team of staff to do it - what do you think?

I've got loads of photos - what about a section with pics of fans with the band - little story to go with it about where you met them what they said etc???
