I think the whole instance shows that people buy coldplay because of the name. If Satriani had released this song of his the same week, despite them souding the same, no one would have bought it, because he isn't a household name. By the way, I hadn't ever heard of him before now.

then the way i see it, you write music because you want the money, more than the enjoyment of it. dont take me out of context. im not saying he shouldnt have wrote it at all, nor am i saying he shouldnt sue them but if he wins then hes earning money off plaguerism n not his own record how he does it, i dunno i just dont like it. the bragging rights should be enough, but i guess im just that way out.

i agree with ant but coldplay are very radio friendly and satriani is a solo guitarist so its always going to be that way. even i prefer coldplay to satriani when it comes to just pure listening, though not a fan of either.
