Haha brilliant, the only way they cannot win it now is if all the panelists hate them. Hope not ey.

Laughable ain't it! To be honest, who cares about what some poncy middle class journalist from Cambridge thinks about the Courteeners, the fact of the matter is they're bigger than most bands at their status, I don't see many bands selling out two nights of Apollo with tickets going on sale only very shortly after the debut album. And even if they didn't have that success, we all know them tunes are brilliant and that they are the real deal

Yepp! But we all knew it was going to happen really, just reading the top bit where it mentioned about 'we don't want it to just be the courteeners fanclub' The Guardian hates the courteeners, they were never going to let them win! Stupid people . . .

I think we, everyone, as a forum and as fans of real music, should write in, aha. It's a load of shit, how did they not make the top 3 never mind 50? And the fanclub thing, that's just shit, can they not appreciate fans? If anything it proves the bands' popualrity with the public.

I just can't understand whey they put them on the readers poll, they get 50 odd % of the vote, yet don't make the top 50. Rather than rediculous, i'd say it's more thought provoking to say the least.
Watch this space.....

It just proves that The Courteeners have a bigger fan base and are better liked than other bands, which really is better than an award, suppose it's them who'll be laughing in the end !

I may have made a schoolboy error ladies & gentleman. going back to the original link - www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/poll/2008/nov/06/firs-album-award-vote- its named as the guardian first album award. where as the link i posted yesterday, is for the critics choice. i think they are two completely different awards, although award is a bit of a strong word considering its the guardian. it goes on to say that the winner will be announced on December 19th in the Film & Music edition.

Ah good, I thought it seemed unlikely that the album with the most votes hadn't made the top 50. I hope the Guardian do a good, proper article in the Film and Music edition on the Courteeners victory (providing they do accept that over 50 per cent is a win), it seems unfair and confusing frankly to see MGMT and a lot of other average bands getting praise at the end of the year and not the Courteeners. Ah well, who needs critics when you have Mozzer fighting your corner
