Like I said in my last post I'd update with my progress, here's what I've been doing... InsertsI've done more test prints for the inserts within the booklet and they all look pretty good - some are double-sided and I got them bang on! So far so good I'll do a second test now - This will be onto the paper I want to use for each of the inserts and this will determine how they will come out properly to put into the booklet. CD SleeveI've also been tidying up the CD sleeve now I've got the tracklisting. I'll also do another test print for this to make sure everything is ok - Other than that, the sleeve is finished so I'll be able to make up all the sleeves this week. PackagingI've had a new idea on how to package it all up. Just at the early planning stage and I'm waiting for some samples to arrive. Once I've determined the materials and that I think it'll look pretty cool - my girlfriend has even shown an interest and offered to help me make this.... and she doesn't even like the band I'm not giving anything away until the release, as I want it to be a surprise!! That's all for now - Cheers

Progress is going well but my print carts are looking unhealthy!! I seriously think I need a laser printer for future projects, so I'll have to have another raid on the old collection to see what I can sell if I want one... Anyway, I've about sussed out all the inserts & have them 'Print Ready' - just need to work more on the actual pages of the booklet, by that I mean the content, so I'm just waiting for Fergal to confirm what the interview snippets will be. Still waiting for the samples to decide on the packaging...my misses has designed the first draft to do a test print and then I'll make up the prototype this weekend to see how it looks. I'm sure I've mentioned this before but I'm seriously thinking of knocking out a few promo copies and send to publications like Record Collector to see if we can get a mention. I thought I could suggest that an article on "unofficial releases" might be good. So if I do go ahead with this then I'll be looking for a few people to write down their thoughts about these kind of releases etc.. It would be great if S&C could get a bit of national press but then there is always that doubt in my mind about copyright!!! Back to work

Good effort on the St.Jude P.O.S, looks pretty cool - Didn't you have a copy of St. Jude? or did you have to make that too? Do you mean the "CD" in the front? I could have just used my copy of St Jude, but they wouldn't have given me any marks . So i had to run one up in felt tip at the last minute.

Just a little progress report.... PackagingThe packaging samples arrived but I'm still looking for other places/samples before I make a final decision, as the material is pretty costly - nothing that a few more ebay record sales won't fix and I do want the whole thing to look right Also to 'look right'.... oh I'm going to explain properly and spill the beans... I can't explain properly with all this 'top secret' stuff... The CD and Exercise Book will be housed in a Satchel!! The old leather school bag will go with the whole theme and hold everything together.... a nice package. So now that's out in the open I can tell you where I am... The material sample is Artificial Leather, I did want proper leather but that would be too expensive and quite complicated to make! So we will have to settle for the cheaper variety ;D So far the cheapest is from Germany, even with P&P it's the cheapest source I've found. I've found and ordered some of the 'fixings'; the buckles for the front straps & the D-rings, these hold the main strap and fix them to the side of the satchel. I'm also researching other fixings, like the rivets that give it a more authentic look. A prototype has been made from foam which helped me know what tweaks to make to the pattern. Exercise Book/InsertsMost of the inserts are complete and printed, I have added some more inserts but have yet to start on them! I'm hoping to complete all the inserts by the end of this week and get them out of the way... That will leave me to tidy up the page content. I did another full print of the exercise book and then attached all the completed inserts for a proper prototype and I think it looks ok so far - just gave me a good indication of how the final thing will turn out. Like I said, just need to tidy it up; like text alignment and layout but overall I'm happy. CD/SleeveI haven't decided on the CD artwork yet, I have printed a few CD's with different designs but I'm not convinced. I will have to post some pictures of them to see what you lot think. I still haven't printed out the sleeves to make up but the design is all ready and waiting, I thought I'd hold on a bit just in case, don't want to print out 25 sleeves to find last minute changes to the tracklisting or anything like that.
So not too much progress since last time but since I've got no work on at the moment I'll be pushing this on this week

Thanks lads but I'm enjoying this project (even though it's dragging on a bit) so much that the effort is all my pleasure ;D I've got other ideas but got to see if they will be possible to add to this project yet, at this rate the CD won't be released until next year

CD/SleeveI haven't decided on the CD artwork yet, I have printed a few CD's with different designs but I'm not convinced. I will have to post some pictures of them to see what you lot think. I didn't realise how 'old' the designs where (see the release date!!) but I'll post the pictures anyway The one with the lined paper effect was my first attempt but then I thought it wouldn't look right as a 'page' when it's a CD??? That one is out! So the same design was printed onto a silver disc; I think this is far better as it looks like it's just been written on. The only thing is the white label can't be printed onto silver discs! I could print The Courteeners logo onto a sticker and put that on the CD, this would keep up with the DIY theme
Looks like I'll be going with that design on the silver disc, unless you lot don't like it? Let me know what you think - Cheers! *EDIT*I nearly forgot... A couple of teaser pictures of the exercise book for you, click on the thumbnails to see a larger image. The Cover is complete, after a few changes I'm now happy with it. Obviously the 'test' label will be changed to the members name for that personal touch (this will be given when paying the P&P). The page is just an example of one of the inserts that will be included - they have all been produced to scale of the exercise book. I hope you lot have good eyesight or a magnified glass because some of the inserts are tiny ;D
