Seems like the teachers or examiners are no better in the present day either Ant Back on subject, sorry the DL couldn't be out for Christmas after all! So, I' not going to speculate about the release any longer; it'll be released when it's ready I'm still working on the artwork 'cos I'm just not happy with it - I'll keep going until it's right though. Got some ideas to work on, so hopefully they will evolve as I'm having a play around with it; that's the way it normally happens with me. Still thinking how to make the package for the CD with the limited resources but I've got loads of ideas down on paper and will try and decide a final solution over Christmas. More soon...

I know this hasn't got much to do with it, but I have to do a mini P.O.S project and i chose The Courteeners. So eventually, it'll be a stand which will hold the album and advertise it's content. That sounds really cool, have you started it yet? On the "The Story So Far" CD:I've now got a load of crap sorted out and now I'm back into forum life! Last night I started to tidy up the covers I did a while back, so there coming on again. I've got to confirm the audio with Fergal so I can relate it to the info on the sleeve. It would have been nice to have the CD out but a download for Christmas is more probable now. I'll try to make a CD version as it would be a nice (very late) Christmas prezzie but I'm not promising anything yet, with no cd burner I'll be on the hunt for a bargain external one today. I'll have to do a count up of how many blank CD's I've got left cos I want to make a few more this time...maybe 50 if possible?? Fergal can you post your progress with the audio mastering please Yeahh,i'm in my last year of it now, so it shouldn't be too long. Had to change half of my coursework because they can't bloody decide how they want it. Anywhoo, i look forward to it finally being done!

Last year... Hope it all goes well for you, you'll have to post a picture up of your P.O.S. project & you never know, I may ask you to make me something for a CD... for cash of course I did say I was going to carry on with the artwork over Christmas but that never happened!! Just in case your thinking "Lazy fucker!" I had to work on my ebay shop - a total revamp. Since it was my bread 'n' butter when I was out of work I had to drop everything else and concentrate on that for a while - In fact I'm planning to expand it if everything goes well! Right! Now that's all out of the way I'll get back to the subject The Old (New) CD Project has been going on for a while now, so I'll be giving more of my time back to S&C and get those bloody covers done! Then I'll decide on the packaging - Any cheap/DIY suggestions? Did you like the 'Best of Festivals' packaging? I could use standard album cases? (jewel?) I've got plenty of those - Maybe even shrink wrapped?? - I've been gagging to use the bags and sealer ;D I'd love to hear your suggestions though. That's all for now, I'll let you know more at the weekend - Cheers

If you want cheap packaging, then why not have it like That Kiss was in some cheap piece of cardboard?? Surely that is cheap enough.

Wasn't it a slipcase Ant? Bloody hell I can't remember!! I'm sure it was a cd tray in a simple slipcase?? The only thing that's stopping me using different packaging is printing! I mean it's easy enough to get hold of blanks but it's virtually impossible to print on them with just a inkjet printer. I have tried a few different things but they have jammed or just churned them up! I've just received a pack of printable vinyl-style CD's that I ordered with some spare paypal cash - They look the bollocks! Got some plain white & black sleeves that are die-cut so you see the cd artwork - these were meant for another CD project for S&C though - not saying ought until this one's done though Sorry doesn't solve this one, I'm really thinking about just a plain old album case though - no extras - nothing fancy - and it'll make a change from the last one, also it'll be easier for me to make haha I keep forgetting to look for the external cd writer - anyone know of any good one's, got to be cheap though? Does anyone know anything about them? It's just that proper audio blank cd's have got to be the best for CD's right but do you need a special writer? I thought I'd ask here first just in case, I'll look into it if no-one know what the f**k I'm going on about

I will post pictures when it's done. It's getting kind of stressful now because we literally have a single sheet of foam board to construct it - genius. And yeahh, i like the plain cover "That Kiss" was in, looks smart! - Katie

like I said, can you get cheaper than a piece of cardboard, I think not....... I can see where you coming from Ant and your 'cheap' ideas has grown on me but printing onto them will difficult for me with my inkjet. I'll consider it some more I never want to use normal cases but may have to??? I'm off work today so I'll see what I can do with it with the resources I've already got - Maybe a printed sticker placed on the card sleeve?? Or maybe I could create a stencil of the CD title and do a kind-of screen print cardboard cover - then have a booklet inside of that with all the CD info etc?? Too many options ahhhh! I'd still like your suggestions as it is for you lot On the actual content...I messaged Fergal to see what progress has been made and he's told me it's coming on very well and will have between 9-11 tracks. I think he's a bit like me and will continue to change and tweak until happy - Nice one Ferg keep it up mate!

The Sleeve Saga continues....When I suggested that a normal jewel case may have to be the answer I have had a sickly feeling about it! You'll probably know I'm not really a fan of those cases and always like to find other ways of CD presentation (sad act hey?) Well, I have dis-guarded the screen print thought and come back round to the card sleeve idea (acrylic single). I've found some decent card to print the sleeve on, then I could cut-out and assemble myself... If all goes well with my mock-up today I'll go ahead with the card sleeve. I spent yesterday converting the artwork from jewel case to card sleeve - I know there's less room for it and no insert booklet or anything but hopefully it'll be ok. I'll be back later with the results

Title: The Courteeners - The Story So FarRelease Date: February 2009 Cat Number: S&C 003Description: This is the test card sleeve for the soon to be released CD, ignore the thin blue lines around the edges (not the notepaper effect), as I left these on for my own guidelines (they will not be on the final design).
This is NOT the final design, the tracklisting & interview details are all DUMMY text! The final tracklisting will be confirmed when Fergal has finished mastering the audio.
It will be a proper forum release giving it a S&C catalogue number.
As soon as everything is finished and confirmed I will announce the release within the forum and you will have the chance of getting a copy by the sign-up method.
I don't know how many will be released yet but no lower than 25 copies.FrontBackCD/Insert
