Fergal good to see someone else with reasonable opinions on this forum, FastFuse God help you if you think that The Strokes were just;
"a very brief flash in the plan, helped a great deal by the NME"
The Strokes sparked the British music scene into action, and for that we should only be thankful. "Is This It" is consistently voted in polls for great records/albums , Julian Casablancas voice and Albert Hammond JR's Guitar playing skills are electrifying.

haha the taste and class still remains thing is, whether you like them or not, because of them britain got interested in music again and record labels started to take chances with signing proper bands, the libertines only got signed on the back of the strokes' popularity and they ended up changing british music massively because great music was finally back on offer But The Libertines were around quite a while before The Strokes. Admittedly they got signed because of The Strokes popularity but a lot of the main Libertines material was recorded/written before they were signed. I think they would have been found if The Strokes wern't around.

Campbell I've got God sat here telling me to spread the word that the strokes are 'cack and overrated' (his words not mine)
The only people who did like them were students or people who read the NME.
The albums that followed 'is this it' room on fire and first impressions of earth are complete rubbish (imo).
I realize there first album crops up in the readers/writer polls but it won't in 5 years because no one will care about a bunch of posh little tossers who wear there jeans 3 inches away from the tops of there shoes!!!
Albert Hammond's guitar playing as average and how can you say fat boy Casablamcas has a good voice, on his records it always sounds like its been run through a distortion pedal!!!!

I did like The Strokes , and i still do like The Strokes. I see you are very angry about the image that the Strokes convey, and you are very angry about their backgrounds but that has nothing to do with the music. Julian Casablancas voice sounds so good because it is different.

Am not angry Campbell I just don't like em, and I think there 'Overrated' thats all!! I admire the way your fighting there corner.....(fucking Converse Chuck Taylors and drainpipes..... for f**k sake )

I know you are fastfuse. I have got plenty of time to educate you on Rafa. He has been treated in a disgraceful manner both by the yanks and by the newspapers. People seem to forget that this is a man who in his first three seasons in English Football won us The European Cup , The FA Cup, and then took us to another European Cup Final. Like any other Liverpool supporter if i was to be asked at the beginning of the season which trophy i would most like us to win, it would be the league, and the league will always be the priority. However the success in Europe we achieve should be respected much more than it is by the written press who so often forget Rafa's achievements and look upon his "rotation" as being the reason of our demise.

I like him, but he just cant get the league thing right. His record in the champions league is outstanding. Inter hadn't lost in god nows how long until the other night. BUT those yanks don't give a shit about that I hope he's still here next season, he's got to improve things. He's like a professor of football and most importantly he's going bald but makes up for it by growing a goatee.......GENIUSE!!
