I was at Madisson Square Gardens in NYC recently to see Oasis and was promoting Courteeners to everyone, telling them to watch out for them!

America is definitely the big one, the exposure from supporting Moz can only be a good thing, even if they 'don't get it', I'm sure they will enjoy the songs. I just can't concentrate any more... I'm off Ahem - How's about Australia! Think of us Aussies - Im got everything crossed for a visit from the boys in 2009 or 2010, 2011...?

I doubt Liam would sell himself out like that so we shouldn't worry. Who are the record label to say what Liam should be writing? They are there to promote and release, not to to decide what is a single, if Liam wants one of HIS OWN songs as a single then that is up to him. f*ck Polydor, I'd take my songs elsewear .

Its all about money these days aint it, if im correct im sure the label didnt want Revolver on the first album? i could be wrong.
but the band are bigger now and im sure will have more say in what goes on the 2nd record.
whatever happens, i know itll be a storming record with the right mix of slower songs and agressive tracks.

Correct, snow patrol are awful.
At the end of the day, the lads are the ones with the eyes and ears for good music, not the label, the do the promoting and money making whilst the band do the hard bit and make the music. I don't have a clue who's decision it is about releasing singles, I think it should be down to the band again though, anything to do with the music should be up to the band.
At least we know one thing, a new album in the pipeline, and he wants an epic.

The fact that Liam has actually came out and said all this shows that he won't let his music be raped and turned into Snow Patrol. I can think of a good number of bands who've set back and let the label turn them into something they initially weren't, Liam appears to have his head screwed on and wants to make the album they want to make, not the album that mothers or primary school teachers want to buy because they heard a single that sounded nice on radio 1

I think the days of the record company just letting bands off the leash and just recording the songs they think are best are long gone. We all know how much the music industry has changed in the last 2 years and with the credit crunch everything is going to be looked over with a fine tooth comb no record label can offord a flop at the momment. (I'm not saying the second Courteeners album will be a flop.) I just think there will be meetings with the band to "AIR VIEWS" over what tracks to put were...They cant as ste put it, tell the record label to "f*ck off" as they signed a deal for a number of records. I'm sure they can come to some happy middle ground it wont be George Micheal episode. I really think they need to get this album out this year...I think leaving it untill next year would be a big mistake...Music like fashion can change so quickly and music fans are a fickle bunch . 2010 would be a mistake. Theres plenty of time for time off get another album out then take a year out a-la Arctic Monkeys. I really think that would be a better option in the long run!! As for America...only the cool kids get british bands, people who like to be stimulated in other ways than "LOOK HOW MUCH MONEY, CARS, BITCHES, HOUSE'S I'VE GOT OR, MY LIFE/SONGS ARE SO f**k**g CRAP I HAVE TO WEAR A f**k**g MASK AND STILTS AND THROW sh*t AROUND THE SATGE TO FOR PEOPLE TO GET MY SONGS!!! I f**k**g love America for the record....NEW YORK is the best place on the f**k**g planet!!!

i agree ian, them days have long gone unless you get a band like radiohead or even futureheads running off their own labels, muse however are signed to a massive label (warner) but they dont get influenced too much, they split from their american label when they got told to change plug in baby, so that road can be taken with some success its just abit risky. i think if they did get kicked off the label for refusing to change a certain track then the courteeners would soon be snapped up by a label willing to give them more creative control cus with their fanbase, they aint gonna flop.

I think fergal hit the nail on the head, Liam would rather have say 200,000 album sales from true dedicated fans who love the music he writes, than to 400,000 sales from people like middle aged mams who like a song that the label picked because it's catchy and poppy and all the general 'ting ting' shite that goes with it. What Liam and the lads like is important, and if Liam thinks it's good, then the chances of it being good, are pretty fucking good. Whereas if he isn't so keen about what it released etc and the label are, then again, he is quite probably right. The bands opinion matters, the fans opinion matters, and as far as I'm concerned, the label are there to promote the band and make the money, not to decide what is good, because to be honest like you all say most of the time they do pick, a band will end up being made a mockery of like Snow Patrol. I can see all this crap coming, like the band want to release revolver or something, but the label say, "Oh well, it says f*ck, we can't have f*ck in a single, no gays or mams with prams will buy it, and we need them to buy it, how about we change the f*ck to, uuum, change it to no, or even damn, because damn is pretty expressive." And all this is bullshite, because the song wouldn't have the same anguish etc etc with a shitty word. So I couldn't give a f*ck what the big dicks who run the fuckin show say with there fuckin suits and fuckin big bellies and shite say, because they know f*ck all. So to put it bluntly... Nice one Liam stay put xx

Anyone noticed how effing boring it is nowadays without the courteeners/liam fray appearing here there and everywhere. The odd sighting in town is all thats going on, cant wait for the second album. f*ck america etc as long as they get a few manc dates soon im happy =] Hopefully theyll get a move on anyway. Revolver has always been a good song and every courteeners fan knows it, why dont the labels see what the fans actually want? To finally hear a studio version of revolver would be quality.

It would be awesome wouldn't it. I myself have only heard the demo solo thingy that Liam did a while back and 1 live version. Though I wonder if it is eventually done in the studio, whether it will be acoustic or full band. I wonder.........

i think it could be a full band acoustic, its a class tune but i think it needs a little more to it than the demo i heard. but not a full on rock song.
but i agree all my favourite bands are in between albums its doing my head in.
