Well it's more of a recession now isn't it and I hate that credit crunch term! I'm sorry I haven't been around the forum recently but I've been sorting out a lot of personal sh*t and really didn't want to break this to you I'm afraid that I will have to put on hold any forum projects, well I'm still working on designs and that but any production won't be happening before the new year! A few people on here know a bit of what's going on but I'll have to explain my personal situation so you all know why. To cut it short, my girlfriend had already been made redundant (she's basically a CAD technician) and now I have been told there's no work! It seems the whole construction industry has been affected now and no-one is really building anything in this country!! It's a pretty scary thought... All your work towards the fanzine is not lost, it will be used but will take longer than I had hoped, so don't worry I will be looking for ways to get it out on paper...let's get physical and all that ;D

Sorry to hear about that. Think we all feel it a little, I'm an electrician and I've had no proper job in the industry for a while. Madness ey.

Yeh, I hope so. I was in collage today, and they said that rather than starting our apprenterships in January they are letting the crunch blow over so we've more of a chance of getting one in september or so, who knows when it will end.

construction's been hit hardest unfortunately for darren. people simply can't afford mortgages so demand for housing in particular has dropped. If the govt forced the banks to give better rates for mortgages, then more people would want houses on those rates, and there would be work for darren, and consequently, badges and t-shirts for us lot!

im looking into getting a career in building surveying, im doing construction and the built environment at college at the moment. it isnt all bad, now is the time to learn....more and more people are going to college/uni to get the grades. once the courses are over and people get the grades, construction will be booming again. the construction work regarding the olympics will be starting soon, so that is bound to get more people working. its only the brickies and people like that that are out of work. people with grades eg. quantity surveyors, architects, site managers etc are all still in the job. now is the time to get some qualifications!!

It annoys me why a lot of people think that our government is a precidency or something, and that its the fault of the PM for anything that goes wrong, its the fault of the government, and they're doing quite a good job at trying to get us out of this actually, they've taken good measures to help boost the economy again but it is a matter of time and patience, sadly, with a lot of lost job's and reposessions and all that terrible stuff along the way. I don't think there's anyone who doesn't know someone who's been very badly affected But it's not Browns fault, there's a number of different reasons
And bad news Darren about the forum projects, we'll try and keep things trickling over until things pick up mate

Its a complete f**k up across the board, Browns going to be the fall guy but its not his fault really, DARLING (fucking quality name) is trying, pumping all the money in and reducing all the intrest rates and what have you......things look glum at the momment!!! But I cant see the goverment just letting us go into recession with out trying to sort it out Daz I hope you and your missis are alright?? and I hope you still have a good Christmas, I'm sure things will pick up in the new year.....KEEP YOUR CHIN UP MUCKER!!

Yeah as people keep saying "it will get worse before it gets better" Haha always look on the bright side eh? I'm trying to not let it get to me & just plod along. sh*t loads of people are in the same boat or a lot worse, so I'm not going to just crumble or ought, I'll keep looking for work and that & I'll look into what needs updating on the forum now I've got the time! Thanks for the support and kind words Ian & everyone else - we are not going to be homeless...well not just yet Ant, good luck with your exam

Yeah I work in Marketing for a manufacturing company - our budget has been sliced - it's ironic cos marketing is the first thing to go in times like this and it's when you really need it! No job cuts here so far and hopefully things will pick in new year....on the plus side my mortgage deal is up in feb and was looking like mortgage could potentially go up 200 squid now it's more likely to go down!!
And there are some fab deals on shoes on the internet!
