I have to disagree with those that thought the Leeds gig was good. The sound was not fit for purpose and was the worst sound i've heard at a gig in 22 years of going to them.
I felt so sorry for the band on stage playing their hearts out to be let down by shoddy sound. Before the abuse starts, i've been watching the Courteeners for over 21 months now - the smallest crowd i've seen them play in front of was around 30 people in Donny.
I love the band, thats what makes the evening the more disappointing when a band you genuinely like are let down by the venue.
Anyone else think that the sound was totally unacceptable?
I know of three other people that walked out and went elesewhere and complaints / comments have been made in local record shops that sold tickets to the gig.
Please note that this is a complaint against Leeds Academy / Pet Sounds and not the Courteeners!!!

would have beat most nights out around town, especially in clitheroe! sadly a night out in clithroe would have been better! Post from Leeds Music Scene as to why and basically the band shafted the fans at Leeds, not amused with them now to say the least - they didn't have the deceny to turn up and do a sound check - very amateur Re: Courteeners NYE Leeds - poor sound by roonjuice on Tue, 06 Jan 4:28 pm no ben. it was a guy called martin , who had to mix the band and do monitors from side of stage, with no soundcheck, a minimal line check, ( the band didnt turn up till well after the club night was on going) and no real reference from foh, apart from a pair of stereo monitors for himself. He also had not done monitors for a long time, and was doing so on a desk configuration that he had never used before. This was all due to the band themselves also playing sheffield on the same night.

I was there & loved every minute of it, was a quality new years in my book. and fo rwhat its worht, i was right down the front & didnt have a clue there wa sproblems with the sound, the fans were screamign every word back at them, and when ya turn around to see the crowd behind ya, there all dancing off there heads to, enjoying it. so to be moaning about the sound, you must have been standing at the back sipping orange juice. get down the front and dancethe f*ck out
