Yeah! Similar "walking through a swimming pool" type of slowness, I proper love the whole album now. Gone from intense hate to sheer admiration

I'm sorry but as the ones of you who have been around a while I'am sure you are aware of how stubern I'am, so I will not be listening to any of it, the shock of lightning was enough for me to make my mind up, I couldn't stand it and that is unfortunately the judgment I make, I hear one bad thing and therefore give up. My vendetta against modern Oasis. Fair play. But I think your stuboness (if that is even a word?) will lead you to miss out on some quality songs. I too have pretty much written Oasis off. I am able to admit that. However, some of the songs on offer are very good indeed. Liam has written a gem in Im Outta Time. For me its brilliant. Way better than songbird and miles better than lil james. Shock of the lLighning for me should never have made it as a B Side. No way near good enough for the bar they have set. Yet they redeam themselves with other songs on the album. Its no Whats the Story. It is of course no Definetly Maybe. But what it is, is a reminder that they still are the fathers of Rock Music in this country. I think it is a good record judging on the songs I have heard on their myspace. And I know I am going to enjoy them even more with more listens. |

As is usual with oasis, it's a very good album. Again, it has nothing on What's The Story or Definitely Maybe, but it is full of good songs. Not brilliant, just good.
And that's the problem. There's nothing new, nothing different, nothing special. I enjoy listening to the album, but just as you could put any oasis track and i'd enjoy it. It's been mentioned correctly loads of times, that shock of the lightning is extremely average, considering Oasis. Don't get me wrong its very good, but given their history and what we know they can do, its a poor effort.
Falling Down is truly the gem of this album

They will never do better than what they have already done, everyone expects them to go one better and they just won't due to how great the 1st two albums were
How many bands have 7 consistently special, different, groundbreaking albums?

Bag it Up, The Turning, I'm Outta Time, Falling Down and I've even developed a soft spot for Soldier On.
I'm Outta Time is a tune I'd never ever expect Liam to be capable of creating like, its class. I can't stop playing it on guitar niether, great chord sequence
