Can you recommend some songs to me please Fergalacrylic? I have listened to a fair few but nothing to warrant me changing my mind. What are your fav tracks from them? And I am curious to know why you think they are inovative?

Sure thing, Geraldine, Lonesome Swan, Flowers and Football Tops, Daddys Gone and Go Square Go. They're innovative because theres no other band like them, and the music, a lot of it ripped off Jesus and Mary Chain, is fairly different and massive and distorted sounding, and the marring of all the different things like the two drums and all that, I dunno, its just a collosal and unique sound, and James Allen's lyrics are superb

Cheers Fergal.
I get the fact they are writing songs about taboo subjects etc, and touching on sensitive issues but I still dont get the fuss.
The only song Iv heard that i like so far is Geraldine. But that is at a stretch because I find his voice annoying and irritating.

But that is at a stretch because I find his voice annoying and irritating. Yeah, with accents as strong as that its sort of an acquired taste. But aye, I'm all for bands breaking taboo subjects and sensetive issues and that, be it Glasvegas with "I won't be the lonely one sitting on my own and sad, a 50 year old reminiscing what I had" or The Specials with "Just because you're a black boy, just because you're a white, it doesn't mean you have to hate him, it doesn't mean you have to fight" or even Oasis with "Is it worth the aggravation to find yourself a job when there's nothing worth working for". Its just statements like that in songs, that you just think, thats special

but i think a lot of bands do that now just for the sake of it. theres no thought in it a lot of the time.

True, "This Song" by the Enemy as an average attempt at it. Glasvegas do it well though

I got it ok iTunes because it was cheap, it's an ok album I wouldn't really go beyond that tbh. Might try and see them live at some point. I don't think the album would make my top 5 of 2008.

I wouldnt buy it if I was you, but then again i am fully against the Glasvegas bandwagon. One of my mates saw them alst night in London. Said they were boring, minimal interaction with the audiance. However, he said the support were top and the lead singer (woman) was FIT. Always a bonus.

...it's not so much that... how on earth are Glasvegas even slightly comparable to Oasis...? I can understand why they do it with The Courteeners (although I fucking hate it) but Glasvegas? Bizarre. Maybe they just have a standard "Oasis Comparison" review and change the name of the band each time.
