Going to see them tonight in Manchester, a decent band slightly held back by Kane's vocals (ref: The Last Shadow Puppet's album)- by common concensus a good guitarist but not the best vocally. New single Freakbeat Phantom is a good tune as was the last single: Suspicious Wit, debut album follows on 23 June.

Arctic Monkeys, + large amounts of water, - wit and charm, + a little more water
= The Rascals
( a watered down arctic monkeys)

I'm yet to be convinced by them, first few times I heard them I were mega impressed but the more I listened to them the more dubious of it I became. Kane's a class guitarist, he'd proved that before the Racals and in the Rascals, but as a songwriter he's pretty rubbish and they seem devoid of any substance, as Cal said, a watered down Arctic Monkeys without the wit, charm, innovation or substance. I'll make up me mind properly upon listening to the album however

Enjoyed it his voice didn't grate as much as I thought it would. Not a bad little venue but they needed to sort out the 14 yr olds that were repeatedly getting on the stage. Looking forward to the album.

Yeh I thought they were great, don't think they will be as big as courteeners (but I could be wrong)
Voice was good don't see what the problem is
overall I was impressed, other than the shites jumpon on the stage, loved it when the bouncer bounced one of em against the wall

Gig was ok... nothing brilliant! The idiots who kept getting on stage were annoying. They should have put the barriers up like they did when Twisted Wheel played Club Academy afew weeks back!

I saw Kane when they supported the Monkeys as the Little Flames and I was less than impressed, the Rascals aren't that different to the Flames either

Nah they're more accessible than The Little Flames with a keener ear for a melody. In addition they've dispensed with that charisma free front woman.

love the rascals. i remember at gmex in december, me and me mate were like the only ones who knew who they were. classic night.
to those who say they're the same as the arctics, you couldn't be more wrong =| the rascals are much "heavier" and "deep" (for want of better words) and are much heavier on the effects.
The closest comparison you could make is that they are heavier and more full on than FWN. but thats bout it. plus, they're scousers...the arctics are from yorkshire...
anyway, yh mint band. saw them on the 3rd june, was awesome, and just got the album today!

Cracking little album, probably exceeding my expectations. Looking forward to seeing them and Courteeners next week at Witness.

I love the rascals! How do I end this is a brilliant tune! They had a few songwriting issues in their earlier songs but that's been resolved for the album, I thought it gave them a bit of character anyway, different to anything else!
