Being one of the oldest people to use this site (i assume) I would like to know what maybe the slightly younger oikes on this forum think of the new Oasis album (if anyones concerned) and the return of the Verve. Do they still have have an importance to British music or have other bands (Cribs, Arctic Monkeys, Babyshambles, THE COURTEENERS) shifted them out of the way??? and no am not going to tell you how old i'am

im still pretty concerned bout new oasis and verve deliveries. saw the verve at blackpool in november, iv gotta say it wasnt particularly as epic as id anticipated and they still showed signs of needing to find their feet live again, but i hear that by december they'd got that pretty much nailed. new oasis album, im up for that, they're back on form now really, DBTT was a great album and a welcome return to form, and live they're as good as they've ever been. noel is still the man, if not more so
and go on, how old are you haha

fastfuse it should be "(i assume)" not presume.
but anyway, i couldnt care less about the verve, never had.
oasis... hmmm... i never really understood why people think they went off the boil after "whats the story..." and personally i felt Heathen Chemistry was a great album, it was well received when released but people quickly returned to the old rethroic that they only had 2 good albums.
I also thought Don't Believe the Truth was shite, it seemed as if they were writing it with the charts in mind. The videos were dreary, all singing all dancing... no thanks. so overall i'm not particuarly excited by another album, but i'll reserve judgement till i hear it.

same here. i think DBTT was crap bar a few tunes, but overall a poor album. same goes for heathen chemistry. a few tunes but nothing spectacular. Masterplan was a cracking album for me, love it. but time will tell and i hope this next offering is great

Oasis yes, Verve no. Oasis have been a great band and have always managed to pull a few corkers out of the hat even if the more recent albums haven't been as complete as their earliest offerings. Live they still manage to spark up that anticipation and edge that a gig always needs to set it apart from the mundane. Not saying it will be a classic release but sure to have some highs on it. The Verve have never interested me, nothing against them, just not for me.

Oasis have made the greatest album ever (Be Here Now) But since then its been a load of shit (Masterplan was great but im not counting it what with it being a compilation) I'll buy the new one, but im not arsed.
The Verve were just shit.

I like Be Here Now too!!! Everyone seems to pan it, All Around The World is far, far to long but it sums up 1997. I love My Big Mouth just because of what it stands for and Fade In/Out is a good tune. I listen to that album more than Whats The Story. Its loud as f**k which sometimes is whats needed (and it pisses all over Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants...which was a let down)
I hope the Verve album is better than Ashcroft sole's stuff because that was pish!!!

30 this year? im very sorry
i think the verve are criminally underrated and are often rated on the strength of bittersweet symphony, sonnet, lucky man, drugs dont work, which are good but by no means their best. buy urban hymns and a northern soul and make a proper judgement, they're both great albums but not to everyones taste. oasis always were more mass appealing, and oasis are the better band, but im still standing by the verve (iv even got a guilty admission to liking a lot of richard ashcrofts solo stuff but i shouldnt be proud of that haha)

I know Ferg.....am to old for all this shit really. BUT I FUCKING LOVE THE COURTEENERS!!!! So f*ck it!!
Ashcrofts last album was ok but Human Condition was terrible. Northern Soul is great just as good if not better than Urban Hymes
I love Oasis, I was 15 when they came out and i still religiously buy all there stuff and probably always will. I always get a semi when they have a new record out, that can lead to disappointment at there laziness though. I think they could make a really good album again, if they could be bothered!!

oh aye, i think this album that they've got coming out soon (we hope) is gunna be brilliant, i didnt think dont believe the truth would be and it was far better than i thought it would be, this next one is the post-1998 winner.
and aye, the first ashcroft albums were poor, keys to the world was quality, and i saw him on the keys to the world tour and he was on some top form
