S&C Forum Festival Flyer Frenzy Oh yeah! It's that time of year again, I may not be going to any this year for the first time in years but I'll distract myself away from that and make a flyer for each festival appearance by The Courteeners I will certainly try and create different styles for each festival if I get the time. I've got a lot more ideas on what styles to use for different festivals and different ways to produce them. The Courteeners Summer Festivals 2008: ( updated 15/08/08) Key:Flyer releasedPhysical flyer also made and has/will been handed out at the festivalWorking on flyer for the festival Date - Location, Festival• 12th June - Sweden, Hultsfred Festival ...images...• 28th June - Glastonbury Festival ...images...• 4th July - O2 Wireless Festival...images...• 6th July - Spain, Doctor Loft Festival• 12th July - T in the Park• 13th July - Oxegen Festival• 16th July - Greece, Fly-Beeyond Festival• 19th July - Switzerland, Gurten Festival• 20th July - Spain, Benicàssim Festival• 26th July - Japan, Fuji Rock Festival• 1st August - München, Sonnenrot Festival• 5th August - Ibiza Rocks• 9th August - Germany, Open Flair• 10th August - Germany,Taubertal Festival• 16th - 17th August - V Festival • 30th August - Jersey Live

I had to do it... yeah! Give the flyers catalogue numbers...it just feels right now. S&C FL001 FL002 "Glastonbury"So, you may have read the first post in the 'frenzy' thread?!?! If not, I have almost finished the first ever flyer for the forum. The flyer are a way of promoting our community and the band! I don't do things to the norm either! The flyer was just going to be... well a flyer...but as always I get a lot more creative when sat down tinkering with the design. So I first created the layout of how I perceive the festival and from all the years of going I think it's mainly been wet, muddy and with unpleasant odours ;D This made me go for an environment theme of green grass, mud and with the addition of the portaloos thrown in When is a flyer not a flyer?Along the way I had changed the flyer into a 6"x 4" postcard size and to give it that holiday feeling I made it double-sided with a nice image of one of the festivals most active places... ...I also added a nice bit of text to the image. This with other ideas and changes affected the colour theme, so unknowingly I made it into a kind-of song theme too Once I have made up a test flyer I will upload the images to show the finished prototype - Everything will be a lot clearer then. What ever happened to simple?Originally I made the flyer A3 size, I have learnt it's always better to start with a larger size as it can be reduced a lot more easier.... ...anyway, with this resource I COULD make a poster for it to be put up at Glastonbury! I also...can you guess what's coming?...yeah you got it! A badge!!! Just thought it would look nice with the postcard, easy to do and nice to get for nothing, I know it nothing different but I'll come up with something for the series. I can't wait to get the test version made up so I can show you all but as you may see it's now 2.23am and I have to go to bed

I did forget to mention some things and won't sleep until I get them out Format / QuantityI will get 50 quality postcards made up with the badges, I've got a little bit of additional packaging in mind too. Additional postcards flyers is something I haven't thought too much about yet but I reckon at least another 100 will be about right. I need you!The only way of distribution is from some kind hearted dedicated sole I really could do with a member of the forum who is definitely attending the festival and reliable enough to hand-out every postcard leading up to the band's slot. A bit about the process is in the S&C's Flyer Sign-Up and Working on our own flyer's threads, so this will help you understand some more. I would like the person to also take photographs of the handing out, fans receiving, wearing the badge, the posters around the festival, anything related really! I just want to display them in the forum for all to see. If you feel that you are the person who can help me, the community and the band, then please PM me

Finally got round to doing the test and I'm well happy with it ;D I will make a few little changes but nothing you'll notice from the sample images below. The only change I will make visible, is the limited number on the badge , I'll do away with the # and just leave the number but I will try some other fonts as well. It looks better in front of me, I will get my scanner working one day! The badge will be fixed to the back when the foam pads arrive

Thats mega that, if I were going any festivals I'd deffo be on handing them out. What difference will there be between those ones and the ones you'll be getting folk to hand out at Courteeners gigs?

Glad you like it Fergal and sorry I clicked on modify post instead of quote and ended up deleting your post! It's all back to normal now though I will create a different design for each festival... ...so the next one and if I can get someone to hand them out will be specific to the wireless festival. I think I keep the postcard style & badge design for the whole of the festival series and then maybe do something different for when the band hits the road again After the festivals, I will work on specific gig flyers. I've got one in mind for the October tour, I started designing this one before the festival idea came to mind. So I have already got half the design ready but I'll start a new thread for that one...
• So only the festival series in here please and all general updates and your comments in the 'Working on our own flyers' thread (I will change it's title, as this was the first thread about the flyers)

I made a smaller web version of the glasto flyer to post in messages etc. So I sent it as a message to The Courteeners myspace but they always check them before it's allowed to be posted. The wait is over, they let it on ;D I know it's only in the messages but you never know, other flyers get put in their photo album

S&C FL001 "Hultsfred"I've started work on the Hultsfred Festival flyer for the 12th June, I only found out about this one recently and started a thread in the gigs category about it. ...only 10 days away. This may have to be just a web version as I have to finish the design, make testers, final print and then find someone who is attending who will hand them out, as well as getting the flyers to them... in 10 days , I will certainly try but it'll be a close one! It would mean I'll have to make them all by hand myself. I have mocked up a 1st test version so I can see how it will look and of course came up with some packaging (sorry to the environment once again). I could have the flyer as a .pdf and hope some fans will print them out themselves to distribute ? I'll upload the tester pictures soon to show my first idea for the festival

S&C FL001 HultsfredFront opens up like a card see the content.I couldn't get the packaging I needed for this in time and wouldn't be able to print/make/etc. There will be a web version and PDF version that can be printed out (who knows it may get printed and handed out by someone ) I was going to do some text in Swedish but thought better of it I don't want to make a further fool of myself (after the t-shirt) and don't know how the language, so just a translation wouldn't work! Not releasing it as a 'proper flyer' for the festival has given me more time on the design but I'm about done. I will be making a few up just to see how they would have looked and I'll post images when I've done those too More soon...

S&C FL002 "Glastonbury"As Cal is the only one who said he'll give em out at Glastonbury this will be of more interest to him I sent the final designs to the firm printing the postcards & flyers. Hope I do better with this than the forum t-shirt I tested everything with high quality prints on decent photo paper and everything seems good to me. Most likely I'll get a reply by tomorrow evening... cheers!
