I could do with some feedback on this idea please.
I know you all have other things in your life but if you like the idea of a forum CD then let me know your thoughts/ideas in detail please. Cheers
I'm becoming swayed towards the special packaging idea. With all the talk of who are The Courteeners influences then maybe have the sleeve designed like their influences, maybe The Smiths cover style but a more modern image on the front Maybe have the number of pressings split into different sleeve styles for different influences e.g. CD is limited to 100 copies, 50 of influence 1 style sleeve, 50 of influence 2 style sleeve.
Just a thought but I like it and will research (and probably design) all styles before the final one is decided upon.

I do like the idea of having a set of 50 in one style and the other 50 in a different style or however many you make. I also liked the idea of having the band's influences on the cover.

I say digipak.
For artwork id say something similar to them 'DIY vintage' badge designs we have somewere on here, sort of like a black and white thing.
Look cool if it was like a pencil/drawing effect aswell.

Thanks for the comments nykee14 and ste
Yeah I like the diy vintage style suggestion, I'll put it on my list...
Another idea, maybe a competition/contest for members to design their own cover. This could be in conjunction with the 'Influences Sleeve' and the winner will have their cover as one of the final sleeves.
Keep it up everyone

Oh yeah nearly forgot
On the 'Influences Sleeves', the bands who definately will be themed are The Stone Roses and The Smiths.
Their pretty obvious but their sleeve designs are renowned and simple (famous last words) to replicate.
I'm looking for others but if anyone thinks of anything please post in here

gotta get the iconic images in there such as the lemons on the stone roses debut cover, things like that, the eye on the debut album of the la's, picture of strangeways, a smiths 7 inch cover, stuff like that maybe even some stuff to do with the jam as they're an influence or the libertines

what tracks you thinking of putting on it btw? As I said in the very first post, all the early demos/ep's/live stuff really.
To stop members buying those dodgy Cd's off ebay pirates!!!
All depends on the record label I suppose they don't want anyone having the songs before the album is released so it'll could be only a dream

maybe some manchester images aswell? A while ago I designed the very first draft of a standard album case using a 'Middleton' kind of theme:
Front Cover of Insert Booket
Back Cover of Insert Booket
Back Tray Insert

The Libertines have gotta be in there as an influence. The style of The Libertines album cover with Peter and Carlos on the front would be good.

another good idea would be like a collage of newspaper cuttings about them, with scattered about a few iconic images of their influences, i.e. nykee14's suggestion of the 2nd libs album cover, stone roses lemons, etc etc
