Thought Thursday was the best, followed by Friday then Saturday. All nights were absolutely exceptional though. I've seen a fair few bands this year, all the big 'guitar' bands like Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys and nobody gives performances like that. They're the only band where the words of every single song are sung back at them like that. Brilliant. Just reminds me of when he said at delamere what other band in the world gets this...only they do

The majority of the crowd were just really rude during Ren Harvieu.

Yeah that was disappointing. On one hand they were loads of idiots but then she had a bad attitude towards it too. Saying stuff to the crowd isn't the way to go about it, she should do her best to win them over. Thought she had a couple of really good songs though, will be investigating her a little more.

I liked one of the support acts tunes, god knows what it is called. The rest all sounded the bloody same though.
I firmly believe liam is one of the best frontmen in the world right now. The way he gets us going is insane.
Just a quick mention to the blind man sat behind me and the missus, what a loke! Absolute dedication to turn up blind to a gig, especially in a dark place.

I went Saturday (was away for Thur and Fri) and I think I expected too much from the Apollo as it's such a good venue. They were good as per and the new songs sound good but Gmex, Delamere and MEN were all better, Apollo didn't feel as much as an occasion as any of those gigs and that seemed to be reflected with Liam. I think the setlist was poor new songs too close to slow songs and I've always maintained Cavorting should be the opener.
Highlights were Fallowfield Hillbilly, Not Nineteen and Last of the Ladies.

Alright. Yet again, the band nailed it. One of the very best 'homecoming' gigs they've done, though with debuting new material it felt a very different atmopshere to 'homecoming' and a lot more the beginning of the start of the new album. 'Welcome to the Rave' is class. The audiences were a lot better than at Haigh Hall and Delamere, shame about the lack of respect towards Ren Harvieu, at Haigh Hall there was a huge lack of respect for the Coral...and they're the Coral! Top notch set list, brought out the best in songs that I'd almost forgotten about, perfect. The band just let the songs do the talking and that is the best policy. I've seen them quite a few times now but was taken aback by not hearing any of Liam singing 'The Opener' over the sheer vocality of the crowd, just pure class. All the best, roll on 2012, the good times are calling louder than ever FERGAL

The lads were absolutely on fire on Saturday night!!! I could only make the one night 'cos of being away from Manchester for uni, but they were absolutely incredible, and there was a well good atmosphere in the place!!!!! The new songs they did sound massive, particularly loved 'Why are you still with him?' and 'Welcome To The Rave', but the other 2 were mega as well!!! I think album 3 is gonna be HUGE! And the older songs sounded brilliant again!!! Agree with Fergal, the band well and truly NAILED it!!!! Can't wait for spring or whenever for the album and fingers crossed for a tour... Was blown away ... ''When will I see you again..''

Well there was talk apparently of a March tour, that would be cool especially if they previewed more new stuff a la GMEX a few years ago.
Be interesting to see what sort of venues they will play this year, especially after the 3rd record is out.

Yeh good review bro. Good to read a well written educated review rather than trash journalism. Spot on.

See i thought they weren't on top form. Thursday i thought yes, nailed it, great stuff, but friday i just wasn't feeling it, and was just a bit annoyed, i didn't think they were that great. I dunno if it's just me, but i felt the new stuff was weak too, I like Save Rosemary In Time, but all the rest were a bit average imo. But nevertheless the quote from Thursday was 'Manchester it's been to long, but i promise next time we'll be back sooner, promise', so what i'd assume is that i think they'll do a Kasabian-esque, play a few small venues as festival warm-ups, then do a huge Autumn tour. Either way, really keen to listen to the new stuff now so I can prove my doubts wrong.

Went to the Thursday gig. Liam is developing into a great frontman, banter, presence and interaction with the crowd were all brilliant, best Courteeners gig i've been to by a mile
