I'd be surprised by July as we still have mixing to go, plus marketing and sorting out all the promo for it. Maybe late August around festival time I'd guess personally. Nice little interview that, the first time I met him was completely by chance in Chester funnily enough.

I am under the assumption that it would have been mixed and mastered now to be honest. If not then 6 months in the studio solely for recording is an awful long time.
If it has been mastered then usually the turnaround to the release of the album being out is 3-4 months so it could be July maybe August.

Yeah I'd imagine it'd be a similar time to when Arctic Monkeys released Humbug. Hopefully out around the time of Leeds/August.

Ah yes, recording in the exact same timeline so mid August at the latest and more than likely a tracklisting and first single/free download in the next 6 weeks.

I honestly don't know why it's taking this long. D'you reckon we'll get a free download before or around the time of Chester Rocks?

And so it goes on...
Chester has been and gone, as has the torch. September is the month being branded about by the band now. Probably be mid to late September. Massive autumn and winter to follow.
By the looks of it, no track listing, single or free download has been decided yet so that should keep them busy for the next 3 or 4 weeks. I expect announcements in a month's time and if not then I give up talking about it. I honestly thought it would be fully formed and out by now.
Having said that, I also expected The Courteeners to support the Roses but lets leave that for another day.
What did everyone think about the new material? Welcome To The Rave (possible album & gig opener) and Lose Control (Liam's claim that it would be 'fucking massive' might just come true).
Hopefully everything is about to get a little bit mental, so Welcome To The Rave.......

The Opener must always be the gig opener, its just brilliant and relevant, it also gets the crowd going! Welcome To The Rave could be the start of the encore? Makes sense

Maybe every time they play in Manchester, I just don't want the set to become predictable and stale like it is a little. Variety is the spice of life.
Fast forward to Autumn 2012, first gig, first song. I don't think there would be anything better than the drums of WTTR kicking in and then the band and crowd singing the woooaaaaaaaaaaaah in unison.
They'd be back and we'd all have a dance.

Yeah I'm not too keen on The Opener as a starter either. It just plods along, would rather Cavorting or Acrylic kicked it off.

I downloaded the podcast and Liam sounds really pleased with the new album, much more so than falcon (not to say falcon wasnt amazing) but he says rather than having 25 songs and working it down they had 12 or so and ran with them to make them the best they could. been a long wait but will be worth it if lose control and welcome o the rave are anything to go by!!

Well they have took their time so the quality of the songs should be good or it will have been a bit of a waste being out of the game for so long. I have full confidence though from what I've already heard.
The big thing for the Courteeners would be some chart success. A top 2 album or another big single would do the world of good. A lead single that got radio play and maybe charted top 15 or top 20 would help them massively to push towards the top of festival bills or an arena tour in the UK. That's surely got to be the goal for the next 12 months now.
They always seem to be the outsiders or the underdogs. Sell out the arena in Manchester, played some big theatre and outdoor gigs in the rest of the UK and played decent slots at T, Glasto & Isle Of Wight and yet they are very rarely talked about on the radio stations or by their peers. It's their very loyal and ever growing fan base that is their biggest asset. Part of me thinks if they do go big time then I wouldn't enjoy it as much but I think they deserve some success for their efforts so far.
