Are back and will play Reading and Leeds. Fact. Thought I'd share this as it will undoubtedly interest a few of you. Sorry if this should of been posted elsewhere but 'General Chat' seemed the best place to post. Surprisingly they won't headline but will instead be billed as 'Special Guests'.

tin hat on......
just dont and have never seen what the big attraction with them are. Barat is undoubtably talented but personally think Doherty is a waste of sperm.
and Babyshambles......jesus feck..

I think had they not of been falling apart even before the second album (which got rave reviews and went straight to number one despite the band being effectively finished) they'd be huge by now. They were one of the most important bands of the early 00's and influenced the mass influx of indie bands. As a person Doherty is obviously a bit of a scally but at the same time undoubtedly a talented song writer. Can't wait to see them anyways, that is hoping Doherty actually manages to turn up.

they and the strokes defined a generation

they and the strokes defined a generation Arguably all the more reason to let the legend lie? I understand there's a massive demand for it and all parties could do with the cash, but sometimes the legend is best left as that, a legend. You get bands, perhaps once every decade, with that level of mythical status about them, would a reform be a good idea really? Babyshambles are class, there's a lot to keep people interested there, I think sometimes people get a bit too hung up on the "Pete and Carl" Arcadian dream. And for a band who never played particularly big venues to make the jump to big festival slots, would they or the tunes lend themselves to that envioronment? Merely playing devils advocate a bit, but these are things I thought about.

Apparently they'll be announced with the rest of the line-up (the headliners are Guns n' Roses, Blink 182 and Arcade Fire) on Monday and then NME have a big piece with them in next issue according to what I've heard.

Very true Fergal
If they leave it like the stone roses did, they will definately get that 'mythical' status
not a festival band either but a cameo would be interesting

Jandersons right here, they are supposedly subbing to Arcade Fire. Fergal is also right, they shouldnt get back together unless the reasons for the split arent there. Doherty is still as unreliable as ever, so why bother? And I dont think many of their tunes would be suitable for a main stage slot. Maybe if they did the NME stage? but then it would be vastly overcrowded.
id like to add that this is all just from the efests site.
also this belongs in other bands.

Like many on here, I am normally all for bands not getting back together after a split. THis country has a thing with nostalger which has been getting boring. But seeing Blur last year was amazing and if Pete could be trusted I think it would be great for a very stale music industry for the Libs to reform. We have f*ck all big bands at the moment doing anything interesting.
A few years back I would have said no. And I worry about them on the big stage, but it would be great to see them play together again.

lol easily done i guess. i always preferred what barat did with DPT anyway. same not a big fan of babyshambles apart from the libertines and the cribs (and maybe a few others but none i'd be too bothered about missing) the r/l lineup is seeming a bit over hyped atm, as per though, it's not bad, it's just average i guess
