If like me you consider Sid Vicious to be the ultimate rock star ever, then just check against my brief list of Sids and see how others measure up. Sex Drugs Rock’n’Roll Iconic image Clothing that would get you arrested Obnoxious Violent towards fans Prison Murderer More drugs Early grave Simpsons parody I’d say if they tick half of them, they got the makings of a true rock star. Sorry but John Lydon was the true rock star in The Sex Pistols. Why should rock stars always go hand in hand with Drugs. The Clash & Manic Street Preachers detest drugs, were they not rock stars? "Drugs Come Out Of Boredom Babe"

"Simpsons Parody"
i lol'd. It depends, if its drugs like Pete Doherty for example it just gets pathetic. If its recreational and done with the music it can add another layer to it.

Musicians on drugs have given us a lot of Good Music. As have musicians not on Drugs. So what's your point?

I'm not really sure where I'm going to be honest.
I was just thinking about The Beatles and how they were influenced by drugs.

Drugs do seem to have influence on some fucking blinding music. But obviously you don't need drugs to write good music, loads of good bands didn't use drugs, Moz and Marr never used drugs I do believe, amongst others.

"Drugs Come Out Of Boredom Babe"Rotten was undoubtedly the talent in the pistols but the true rock star I say nay. They were image 1st and foremost and Sid was the epitome of punk rock. Now the Clash true they were somewhat anti-drug, but lets not forget Topper headon the dirty little smackhead with his habit. Hats off to them they did kick him out in the end around the time of combat rock I think. While he probably had little influence in the group, what came after him for the Clash? Lol the manics.

"Lol The Manics"
One of the best bands ever. I would say they are the most real band ever.

drugs can sometimes make them do things they wouldnt have done if they were sober. opens up new doorways and what not. this can result in the bad for some (Be Here Now) or it can result in the good for others (Origin of Symmetry).
i dont think drugs should be part of the image though. as they have been with Vicious and recently Doherty, its just detrimental in the end (no mo' Libertines).
