My question is, where are all the rock stars?
In the 60's the amount of Rock Stars was huge. Charasmatic superstars that intreguied us and wooed us. Who are the rock stars of today?
Have programmes such as the X Factor watered down the rock star?

my answer will no doubt annoy ferg. britpop has watered it down greatly. its great that alot of them are down to earth and "for the people" and probably easy to have a normal conversation with and that. but it means there is alot less people you can be like, in awe of. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnFzIyx-dXgrock and roll ^

as people muse are boring though. from the interviews i've seen anyway. problem is these days if someone does something bad (liam at the brits) its all over the front of the papers as if he's killed someone. there isn't anyone really.

I think the Libertines and the advent of big bands doing "intimate gigs" and stuff has lessened the gap massively, and now it is seen as better for the fans for a band to do a one off tiny gig for competition winners than to do a massive stadium gig. What's more, with MySpace, Twitter etc, "Rock stars" are harder to have. Also, with the 24 hour media, we see more of them. When it was bands like the Smiths or the Clash you'd only see them on Top of the Pops or Old Grey Whistle Test or if you went to the gigs, and that was it, that was all you got. I think all that has been more of a contributary factor to the removal of artists from the pedastal than any specific musical genre

muse are not exactly boring sean. bellamy believes all sorts of conspiracy theories and gets high on shrooms reguarly, if you watch stockhol syndrome at earls court (the red jacket version) you will see a perfect example of how they are not boring. same for dom (drummer). bassist chris is the family man so i suppose hes less rock n roll.
i think theres a difference between being rock and roll, and being a prick. (liam)((gallagher))
you make a very good addition to be honest ferg, the internet has diluted it, as has the media. good shout.

well if he takes shrooms and believies crazy stuff, that's just being weird. not a rock star. if he wasn't making music, and he was just a normal guy, he would be considered mentally insane.

The weirder and more 'fucked-up' a rock star is the better, I say.

Some think he's just a worthless addict but I think he's a really interesting person and has wrote some beautiful lyrics. I also don't think he's a sh*t rock star, he just doesn't fit the mold of your stereotypical rock star.

Ah I see, you've probably got a point there. I don't think you really have the same type of rock star as you have in the past but I do think there are some - Tom Meighan and even Ryan Jarman for starters.
