oasis being nominated for british band was nothing short of a joke. I disagree. Why do you think that?

because the other 4 were just completely more deserving, having all brought out records since the last NME awards, which oasis havent.
i suppose if it was a general thing then you couldnt argue...but over the last year...

Over the last 12 months they've achieved more than they have done in a long, long time. Last summer was a huge achievment for them, despite it culminating in a split it did not matter. 3 lots of 100, 000 people at Heaton Park, similar figures at Wembley, think how many kids will form bands off the back of that? Or what bands in ten years time will have been to those gigs? It's stuff like that which counts in my eyes

you make good points but maybe that warranted best live band then. theyve also spent the last 6 months doing nothing lets not forget whereas winners muse have sold out arenas and stadiums on every continent. i maybe biased here, the other 4 also happen to be 4 of my top top bands, still dont think they did. live achievement for heaton park is also one they shouldve got. blur definitely didnt deserve that.
edit: on top of that, muse had never won best british band at the nme awards. didnt oasis win last year?

I dont think there is anything wrong with them being in the category, like Fergal said played Heaton Park, Wembley, Slane, Murryfield as well as a load of arenas in Europe since the last awards.
But I think it is right that they didnt win, not deserving of it this year.

Seen the awards. Don't care really, just a personal opinion but like I hardly even heard of alot of the nominees, so can't judge what I think of them. Just puts my position with modern music into perspective

i think modern music today, quite a few of the bands who are meant to be big this year don't appeal to me at all. i've heard tunes from them and they just do nothing, there was a bit more talent last year.

Only new band that half appealed to me was Mumford and Sons, heard one nice song, can't remember the name, so got the album but didn't like it. Every song sounded the same, with an annoying quick strumming thing that the rhythm guitarist kept doing. Were better than alot of crap though I guess.

It will be Little Lion Man you heard. I think that's a really good album. You'd like Frightened Rabbit Ant. Either Midnight Organ Fight and their new one Winter of Mixed Drinks.
