It wasn't that comment that annoyed me, it was a lot over a period of time and I possibly did sensationalise my point, however respecting people's opinions is what I'm doing, it's what I'm here for, I'm not bothered what anyone likes really, it doesn't have anything to do with me - it's just occasionally when talking about bands like Oasis you make out that the fans are in the wrong and must be brain dead luddites to like the band, that your opinion is gospel and that your authority is superior without giving some reasons and I just think it contradicts the point of arguing about music. I didn't say anything to kick things off, I've better things to do with my time to start petty arguments on internet forums and I'm sure you do too, I'm merely stating my annoyance. right well fair enough but the only comment i can think of is the thom yorke comment which was of course not mine anyway, though i do agree with it. if ive come across as saying anyone who likes oasis is brain dead then id like to apologise now. theres alot of you on here, and the courteeners themselves I'm sure are. the same goes for other bands im not a fan of like the Stone Roses and the Smiths. particularly apologies to yourself fergal but im sure others were annoyed yet less vocal so thank you for saying. and upton; your a clown.

Kingdom Of Rust - Doves they're easily as good as elbow too if not better, underated band, if they had won a mercury award they would have a much bigger following, as with elbow! Absolutely agree. Elbow's album sales went up 700% when they won the Mercury Music Prize and I believe Doves would have done something similar if they had been nominated or won. They are definately hughely underated.

Thank you, I've no problem with you and got particularly annoyed with people trying to incite some sort of forum argument, I've met you and you're a decent lad and I look forward to seeing you again at G Mex, it's just when elitism and stuff like that creeps into comments I get annoyed. Apology accepted my friend, and I'm sure you meant nothing but good. And aye, the Thom Yorke comment pissed me off, though it was more at him than you, I thought he was bang wrong. Oasis' success has nothing to do with middle class people trying to look working class by commending them, from when they were playing the Boardwalk to Knebworth to Heaton Park it never ever had anything to do with that.

Thats why I made the comparison.

Fair enough, I think my post was more about the Mercury's than anything I enjoyed Kingdom Of Rust by Doves.

yeah you can't compare speech as she was hardly known by anyone where as elbow/doves had much bigger followings in the 1st place
for example selling out manc academy one is one thing, selling out the MEN not too soon after is a massive step
depends on the artist that wins really on whether they build on that success, remember miss dynamite-hee hahaha

Man I love Years of refusal, I love the sound of it, reminds me somewhat of Your Arsenal (my fav mozzer). Fair bit better than his last 2 and dare I say it seems a lot more upbeat. On the whole its been a pretty meh year. Kasabian is the stand out album 4 me. Dam you arctics and your new sound and direction
