What do you think about the new look?

Originally this thread was created for the changes to the whole look and feel to Snorting & Cavorting.


This has now changed to “What do you think about the new look?”

Shortly afterwards, a poll was started to find out what you think...

...that didn’t start much of an outcry, so a new badge was in order!


The new S&C release will be given away to members who offer their opinions on the new look of Snorting and Cavorting.



To receive the badge & sticker set members should:


• Post their opinions about the new look Please elaborate e.g. don't just put "I like it"

• Cast their vote in the poll


Easy as that, as long as you do both you will be added to the list in reply #1 once I've confirmed it.

The cat no. maybe S&C 003 or 004, since S&C 003 was officially going to be for “The Story So Far” CD, I'm not sure to leave it for that??

Since this is open for anyone to get a badge & sticker set, it could end up being a mass release or just be a handful!

How ever many sets end up being made... you’ve got the chance of getting one.

I'm currently having a much needed break from the CD project, after renewing the dot com domain for another year I somehow got looking at 'codes' that change things around the place

So far I've just seperated the Categories, you know Snorting, Deviating etc... removed the Forum/Posts/Last Post etc headings after they were separated... it's obvious what they are so there not needed.
I think it looks better now & defines them a lot more.

I'm just playing around as I find the 'codes', so you may see changes back & forth as I'm online

I've just added a code to put a gap between 'sticky' posts and normal posts.
It's subtle but effective ;D

Just messing with the 'Message bar'; it's at the top of the homepage, between the Headers and the Boards with all the 'home' 'help' blah blah icons...
Just trying to see what I can do with the 'Snorting & Cavorting' text....it looking horrible at the moment!

Forget my last post as I've just logged in with my girlfriends account - all working fine for members so far!

After checking all my little tweaks are working ok,I've just noticed that the Deviating Category isn't displaying for quests.... Oh well!

Still can't figure out why 'Deviating' isn't displaying for guests

I'm working behind the scene at the moment...

* Removed on/off icons from sub-boards (the little folder icons that were on the left hand side), they seemed to have little use or purpose, only showed if a thread has new posts.

* Removed 'icons' displayed next to a thread, showing if it was hot or whatever and the one that the user could choose e.g. Exclamation mark, again these were not needed and a waste of time really

Now I've got a few other things to try out...

Thanks lads, nice to know my efforts are appreciated but yer know I'm not in for compliments....rather have good constructive criticism but don't get me wrong I'm not having a go or ought...errr... yeah...Anyway, it's always a pleasure to work on the forum

* Removed the descriptions of the main boards (e.g. General Chat etc) - Trying to keep it more simple, the board names are pretty much obvious anyway and there was too much going on.

* Replaced category headings with an image (e.g Proposing, Cavorting etc) - They look quite good

* Working on code to replace main boards (e.g. General Chat etc) text with images, like the review panel sub boards.

So overall the forum will have more of a distinctive look but keeping it quite simple.

However, that created strange results!

The new link boxes at the top, that are showing off the review panel and thoughts boards changed too??

Definitely a clash in the coding but I'm not that far forward on coding, so I have just removed the links and the 2 link boxes are now just images until I suss it out

Changes Update.

* Removed the remaining board information from the main page.

So they no longer show how many members are Viewing a board and who are the Moderators of the boards.

All the board cells now have the same dimensions and gives the main page a fresh and simple look.

I've checked it in Firefox and Internet Explorer web browsers and everything is fine.
It all loads up pretty fast for me because I've got a fast connection but how is it for you lot?? Let me know


Next on the agenda...

* Welcome Table - the bit at the top where it says "Hey, XXXXX, you have XX messages, X are new."

* Info Center - the table at the bottom showing all the forum stats.

* Work out how to display the Deviating boards to guests.

* Work out how to use the 'feature boxes' as links to the boards.
Currently the links to the feature boxes of Thoughts & Review Panel have been disabled because they are displaying the boards heading images instead of the proper boxes.

Any techy's out there who know a way around it please let me know

Hey I was thinking it was just my comp that does this.
I noticed if i browse through a webproxy with the (disable scripts box ticked) it appears, without being signed in.

What browser do you use lysergicacid?

I disabled javascript (I'm assuming that's what you meant by scrifts) and yes the deviating boards are displayed.
But the new board heading images didn't display.
So I'd rather have the missing boards in deviating than loosing my new design.

Let me know if that happens with you
