I've been thinking we haven't had a new download with a proper artwork for a while now. I'm getting that bad canyouplayguitar has even started her own thread to give you some new downloads Mmm looking at the release history the last one was way back in October 2008! THE COURTEENERS AUDIO DOWNLOADSLive For Channel M 2 Jan, 2008 (No Artwork)Winter Wonderland 2 Jan, 2008London Calling 27 Jun, 2008The Best of Festivals 2008 4 Oct, 2008The Courteeners Off-Guard 5 Oct, 2008
To give me something to work on & to give you lot more DL's lets get together and think about what you'd like to see all covered up ;D My initial thought would be the "Liverpool Weekender", from reading your comments about the gigs, this could well be a contender! With quite a few videos appearing on youtube I'm sure a decent enough compilation could be made from the 2 gigs. Then there is all the videos I amassed from the Sept/Oct '08 tour!! If you remember this was going to be made for a CD for the 1st issue of the fanzine, "the tour special"...the rest is history...no looking back! So I'm left with a lot of videos from that tour that could be made into another DL. There getting to be rather a lot of videos surfacing each week but hardly ever any mp3's from tapers - Video phones have been a huge culprit to the dying art of gig taping Someone needs to design a 'stealth' audio recorder that can capture the gig in high quality... just dreaming! Anyway Let me know if you have any ideas or findings for a download that I (or anyone else) can make up some artwork - Cheers

Aren't videos always embedded with logos/icons etc these days? Don't know if people care about that?? Anyway, the thread is "Audio Downloads" - You need to be trained up cb

Those 'vinyl burners' cost about 5 grand!!! Only doing 12" with each pressing all done manually and costing about £7. It's possible to get a few hundred 7inchs pressed for near enough 300 quid (the last time I looked anyhow) but you need rights/permission for the tracks - Not a bloody chance Unless we get on at the band for a few forum tracks I have actually thought long and hard about a forum 7" and going a bit further but I won't get into that now. BLOODY AUDIO DOWNLOADS? I've started planning the "Liverpool Weekender" for a future download. So far I've been looking for ideas for the artwork as I've been gathering videos from youtube and I'm sure more will appear whist I'm working on this. The quality of the videos is pretty good so far and should make a decent enough compilation. I posts progress reports in good time...get that cb ;D

Yesterday I had to download all the videos again! The bloody firefox add-on that downloads the videos seemed to work until trying to play the files....just no video or sound but it's playing - strange??? Anyway, I found a new little program to DL the videos but then those seemed like the file size was just too low (if that's makes sense). Eventually I just watched them whilst recording the audio through Audacity - good program. So now I've got 12 different songs (some clips) of varied quality, all in there rawness that need to be cleaned up for the final DL. I'm not as handy as Fergal at the production, you know, fading in/out, reducing bass and all that, so this will take me a while to complete. I'm also hoping that more videos appear whilst I'm working on this because only a handful of them are decent quality. Also I'm 'researching' for the artwork, a few ideas have come but nothing that has inspired me just yet. That's the progress report - Cheers

AUDIO DOWNLOAD UPDATE: "Liverpool Weekender"
Whilst going through sticky patches on the The Story So Far CD project, I diverted my attention to working on the artwork for the download. I'm quite happy with my initial ideas; the back inlay and inside cover are almost completed, the front cover is a continued tinkering process at the moment until it all fits in with the theme I've decided upon.
I've put off working on the audio....dreading it to be honest...like I keep saying I'm not too good on this, I should brush up on the editing side really! Anyway, I should have some time next week, so I'll set a day to get this started. All going well I should have this up in a couple of weeks, I'll update you with my progress next week...

I have audio files for Tear Me Apart & There Is A Light That Never Goes Out if you need them but they need tidying up as they're from videos
Guessing that you may already have them though as I posted the videos a while back

AUDIO DOWNLOAD UPDATE: Good Times Are CallingI've finally renamed the download to give it a proper 'bootleg' title - I went for this as the song is in the compilation and the title is rather fitting with things going very well for The Courteeners after these gigs with the Moz support. AudioI've still put off working on the audio....but I'm hoping to start that tomorrow.[/quote] Artwork I was quite happy with the initial ideas, everything was nearly done until I had a totally rethink and re-arranged everything!! I'm sure it looks a lot better now??? You decide.... (Click on thumbnails for larger image) Front CoverBack of Cover Back InlayTotally went all out for the train travel theme?!?! The idea came from the thought of all you mancs travelling across by train for the gigs and just went on from there... made a table table cover as the erm cover, the tracklisting on the back inlay will be the inside of the time table featuring the track times and other info and the back of the cover will be a mix of tickets/map to add to the theme. I know it's not rock n roll but I think it's worked pretty well... Just got to finish the tracklisting running order & times properly when I've done the audio but then again I'll probably still do a few more tweaks to the artwork

Darren that is looking mega! was one of the best gigs ive ever been too and will make a great CD
just one question though, I'm guessin that you couldn't get an audio file of sycophant? because they played that on both nights too, think there's one on youtube but its on tour in USA so probably not in with the whole liverpool idea, 'there is a light' duet with miles kane was fantastic that night can't wait to hear it and print of the artwork you've done its class
