Just a quick thought, have any band or person made such a huge impact on your life, with a song, a specific lyric or even a full album, and why? ? My personal choices, The Courteeners have truly had a bigger impact on me than anyone, they basically opened the door to all the music I'm into nowadays, The Smiths, The La's, Stone Roses, Stephen Fretwell, Strokes and many many many more. Of course the La's can't go without a mention, specifically Lee Mavers attitude, though it is up for debate, I love it that he would only accept what he wanted and would not give up and wouldn't kept what he thought behind closed doors, which in my opinion is great. How about yourselves??

Aye, i've got to agree with you Ant, the courteeners have also had a big impact on my life. Both musically and in the way i do things, Liam and the rest of the lads are a big inspiration! x

To put things into perspective, before I first heard Acrylic one morning on XFM, I had only 1 CD, U218 singles, the next CD I got, Stone Roses, and so on, simply by seeing Liams inspirations and hearing them for myself, and in the space of 12 months mt CD collection has gone from 2 to like 80, 14 of which are U2 but the rest I can link straight back to The Courteeners in 1 way or another. xxx

Funnily enough, saying that the La's had a huge impact on me, I wouldn't be into them if it weren't for the courteeners. I've alot of thanks to give to the band

i listened to quite a lot of crap music before i discovered the courteeners, my chemical romance, panic at the disco. As i said, crap. Now, my ipod is filled with stuff that is brilliant, the smiths, stone roses, james, the la's, all my mates are like what the hell, where did all this come from? x

My mates are the same, pisses me off, I had an argument with a friend yesterday, he said that he can't wait to go out tonight and hear that 'lady gaga' song, and I told him that she is crap and he said that she is better than the courteeners beause they have never had a number one, so I went on to explain that the la's and the smiths never had a number one and he decided that they were shit aswell. These are the type of people that get me frustrated, they know nothing. Didn't know you were into the la's anyway mate, you wonna get the BBC sessions, some of the best versions of songs on there, I can't sleep in particular. Great stuff xxx

I grew up listening to Weller, my Dad's a big fan and was huge on the Jam at the time, saw them many times and that, so I suppose that rubbed off on me. And bands like the Verve and Oasis that would be in circulation in the car and that when I was young. It just grew from there really, but the main band that changed my life would have to be the Smiths. Through sheer accident I ended up hearing a bit of them, and then went out and bought "The Very Best of the Smiths", and then very soon ended up with absoloutely everything from them that I could get my hands on, then delved into Morrissey's back catalogue and it was love. I'd pin it down to Morrissey, Weller and Noel, each have such a wealth of great music behind them that has influenced my life in such a huge way. I implore anyone on here, if you haven't listened properly to the Smiths, the Jam and Oasis - DO IT

I'm a huge smiths fan, though not crazy, have all albums + louder than bombs, can't push them. Not huge Oasis fan, got first 3 albums and can't get into anything else of theirs. As far as the Jam go, I've got In The City and This Is The Modern World, the first of which is a decent album and I shoould listen to more really, I'm told that All Mod Cons is a great album.

Buy All Mod Cons and Setting Sons man, twenty times the albums that their first two are. Setting Songs is my personal favourite but All Mod Cons has the most hits on, both really good though Ant

ive always loved oasis, smiths and the roses but I think the courteeners have been the biggest influence purely because what they are doing now kinda relates more to me
ive never been to so many gigs just for one band and I have a massive amount of respect for them

Safe to say the courteeners are a fair big influence on most of us, which is great! I really couldn't put a price on them, I came soooooo close to not buying St. Jude because I was unsure, and it's the best change of mind I've ever done

id say the arctic monkeys probably changed my musical life. as for the way i think n stuff like that, muse had a big impact, teaching me to question everything.
courteeners probably had the impact in that life isnt always about the big picture, taught me to enjoy myself alot more.

ok completley different to everyone elses but mine is without a doubt Christina Aguilera.
When i was 15 she came out with Dirrty, ok i know pretty much everyone on this forum will HATE her and her music. but basically without the Stripped album i wouldn't be the person i am today ... i might not even be here today. At the time that album was like my bible (by the way for those who have never heard it, its nothing like Dirrty) ... it taught me to be strong, and just to be me no matter what critism or negativity came my way. It hard to explain when something affects you so deeply.
Other major influences : Michael Jackson, Kelly Clarkson, Stereophonics, Courteeners & Beyonce.
You might judge the latter especially Beyonce as a lot of people say her songs have no meaning, but when you're a dancer they can mean the world.
