The album has been posted in its entirety on myspace www.myspace.com/gracewastelandsI sat down last night and listened to it in full and I was very very impressed. I'll certainly be purchasing that on Monday. "1939 Returning" is beautiful, proper thought provoking. The single "Last of the English Roses" is top as well, as is "Arcady" "Broken Love Song" and "New Love Grows on Trees". The kind of record Pete should be making really! Any thoughts?

The love fades after "1939 Returning" for me... But I am willing to give it more time.

Nice one for telling us Ferg's, the only album I've been waiting for to be honest! Defo sorted himself out now & hope he sticks with the Shambles & his solo stuff - Although a short one-off Libs tour would be ok. Sorry drifted away a bit - Off to order my copy of the album

Anyone see him on Jonathan Ross last night? Very good, the band he's got at the moment is mint. Stephen Street looked proper lost though stood next to an amp with a tambourine!

For the most part Drew & Adam have been with him for his solo stuff, but he's also had Graham Coxon on some songs on the album. Lee Mavers showed up for a few shows towards the end of the tour. He's also doing a Camden gig that I'm betting Mavers will show up for as well.
I'm a bit biased in that I've yet to find anything Pete has released that I haven't utterly enjoyed--but I was really, really happy with this album. Sometimes I really ache for the ferocity that fueled his tunes back in his Libertines days, but this album has a haunting romanticism that really proves exactly why this had to be a solo release instead of considered another Babyshambles album.
Some of the slower songs like Salome leave me switching to the next track from time to time, but I can forgive the initial indifferent shrug it can leave me with part because I know that in another few weeks I'll love it more. That is, once I've tired of the tracks that are so enthralling I can't move past them--the New Love Grows On Trees and Palace of Bone type tracks. I get so pulled into those songs they've become the only way I can start my mornings right.
I Am The Rain is probably the song that I adore the most. The lyrics stretch so far into poetry you feel like you can see them pen scratched out on a half crumpled piece of paper before your eyes. He's telling a story with his clever metaphors but he's also telling the story behind the story--he's telling of a self disdain that he's just now starting to fully recognize within himself.
The whole album is such a personal journey. It manages to well marry bits of him, a little touch of Kill Uncle era Moz, and That's Alright Mama-esque Elvis to me...and that's the kind of combination I can buy into 100%.

Saw doherty yesterday on the sea front in Brighton for the great escape festival. He was in good spirit but wasnt that great unfortunately. Only dig about 5 songs.
