I agree with some reviews and not with others, some do over compliment the album which like any other has its faults
Personally i'm a fan of twisted wheel live and the album is good bar strife and a few dodgy lyrics in we are us, but thats just my view
I think that NME gave it a really low unjustified score but then again other reviews were over the top influenced by the hype
but its a moo point so to speak cos its all individual opinion, courteeners got slated by the guardian where as NME gave a decent score could go on forever like

I mean I love Twisted Wheel, they've just got better n better each night on the Enemy tour, and looking at the dvd that came with the album, its a pity they couldnt have put some recent footage on it, because they are way better now!!.. harping back to NME tho, they've slated the Enemy's new album this week... to avoid any more bloodshed tho, Im just not gonna bother every buying the rag again..!!

haha you've just gotta take NME as it comes, some of it is shite (mainly) but everynow and again they do some decent stuff, I never take much notice of a review until ive listened to it myself anyway
I agree with NME about the enemy though, it varies depending on the reviewers opinion no real point debating reviews etc, just that sometimes the NME does seem to divert from the thing that matters..............the friggin music not who the band are, where they are from
the guy who reviewed twisted wheel obviously has heard the hype around them due to Oasis/weller support & clash/pistols/jam comparisons and slated them when it didn't match up to 'his' expectations - shame so many people who may have bought the album read it and didn't (possibly)

i think he gave a good review, if he thinks lack of variety, 3 chords, straight guitars are bad then why give it more than 3? he makes good points i think. his comparison to the arctics first album stands out for me, same sort of tunes but they do have the riffs and the lyrics, whereas twisted wheel dont.

i went to see Twisted Whell & Paul Weller last night at Silverstone, for Mini 50th anniversary. I must say they nailed it, and weller seemed impressed complimenting them heavily. for Paul Wellers encore, he called out the frontman from Twisted Wheel to do lead vocals on Town Called Malice, Gem Archer also made an appearance. was a very special gig I thought, especially as i had expected it to be a load of commercial Bollocks & it ended up being nothing of the sort (except £4.50 for a pint & £7.00 for a burger!)

Would have liked to have gone to that. How did Jonny do on A Town Called Malice?

Would have liked to have gone to that. How did Jonny do on A Town Called Malice? he was very good on the whole, him & weller were sharing lead vocals, but after first verse weller left him to it & he seemed a bit overcome, but then just cracked on & delivered it very well. i fel ti was watching somethng special, but might have been the beer telling me that! didnt really get into the wheel when i first heard them, but seen them support a few times & they just grew on me, but that gig the other night really made my mind up. downloaded the album when i got back & had it on full blast most of yesterday & today!

Seen them 8-9 times now. The Ritz and Club Academy were probably the best followed by Academy 2. It was good seeing them in Piccadilly Records too with not many people there.

Yea I think I saw some of your pics on Facebook. I was stood on the other side of the CD racks behind you.
My brother has just won a competition to see Twisted Wheel next Wednesday at JD Sports in the Arndale as part of the NME Radio Presents The Adidas House Party Gigs. Glorious.
