hi just wanted to say, I love the Wheel... and seen them loads on the tour with The Enemy, actually, they blew the Enemy off stage every night...!! I couldnt get to Manchester & Oldham for the HMV sets as I live way down south.... I went to the much quieter acoustic set in the Spillers Record shop In Cardiff last week, Jonny was excellent... and to let you know... Dublin was the total best gig of the tour... can't wait to see them on their headline tour - doing 7 dates... x ps Im a girl....

I thought the album was fairly rubbish as well really, I'm not much of a fan anyway but the album did nothing to change my opinion on them, if anything, it made them fall in my estimations even more. I know it's a cliché to say this but it really has all been done before and to a much higher standard, the Wheel are lowest common demoninator music in my eyes, a below-average product of a lot of great music gone before it. Not making the top 75 doesn't suprise me, they may have to fight to stay signed really if the gig tickets are selling average and the record sales are very poor.

yh they're an exciting band and i love them live, but i do suppose in the wider sense they're nothing special unfortunately. tbh i don't think anyone was under any illusions thinking they were up there with the clash, the jam, oasis etc, (apart from the odd review :S ) but yh they're a good listen from a personal point of view.

i can see why its done so poorly. It just shows they have no fans outside of the northwest. it funny how they announce academy 1, but then when it comes to other towns they are playing tiny places. for example: academy 1 on one night, then leeds cockpit.
unfortunately, they look like dropping material. Not selling well on tours, singles that didnt even chart, a record that hasnt got in the top 75.
they have taken a similar route to the courteeners....adacemy 2 then ritz then academy 1 with a similar album release date. but the difference is, that courteeners actually sold out these venues. Ritz was pay on the door, academy will most certainly be pay on the door.
Just having a pocket of fans in the north west cant boost you in the charts, it also looks like the instore gigs didnt pay off on the sales front.
Big label, big expectations....

i wouldn't say it's poor as such, it's just nothing new, nothing special like fergal said =/

it doesnt have the credentials to grip the nation and get people to buy it. for example, the enemy offered nothing new, but the record still sold very well and they can still tour and sell out 2000+ venues.
certain tracks like big issue, snakes and ladders and smash it up all deserved a place on that album and could have probably give it a boost. but when your on a big fat label like columbia, all theyre interested in is sales.... and its looking like twisted wheel havnt delivered the goods.... so i ask, were will twisted wheel be in a years time?

I agree that the album could have been a lot better but I still like it and will listen to it for a long time
BUT thats only because Ive seen them live and followed them for ages so already knew the songs and that, guess they are very similar to the courteeners apart from not getting any further than the north west and that
I feel they might get dropped by columbia too which is a shame but may well sign for someone smaller as I think they can definately do better and the album they have released hasn't done them any justice
There is a lot of shite music out there and Twisted Wheel are class compared to a lot of other bands, they only need one song really that could 'make it' (hate using that term) for them and change things around
Another problem with the album was getting how good they are live onto a record, strife is a prime example
Similar situation for some courteeners songs but the difference is that Liam's songwriting is a lot better and the music appeals to more people

spot on mike. as a live band they cant be faulted... i feel they could do a really good job for a smaller label, they just need a killer track that can make them known around the country. theyv had big support slots which you thought would give them a leg up. hopefully the oasis stadium dates might get a bit of interest, shift a few records.

they were better than i expected live, but i still like their non-live music, i think its good, but not as good as the courteeners

the problem is, you lot may all think there, good but alot of people might disagree like, so you get millions of people buying lady gagas album but this doesnt enter the top 75?
i think this is a bad example of the genre that isnt exactly the most popular at the moment anyway. for that reason i think with the cribs, babyshambles, courteeners this genre is full n i dont see any room for twisted wheel.

hmmmm, but it depends on what genre you like as you said, how can people buy lady gaga's album and not this!
