I really like them. Saw them a while back in Brighton. Their lyrics are fairly depressing but their tunes are solid. Expect big things from them I do.

Very bland I think, there's little to it. I've given the album a brief listen, though to be fair I will listen again to ensure that I'm right, but I'm not impressed, its just mundane. I'm a fan of Joy Division and even Editors to some extent, and they've just taken that, used it as a formula, stripped it of the excitement, the dynamics and, in the case of Joy Division, great lyrics, and made sumat dead bland and samey

they are the first over hyped band of the year, one of many nothing of any interest for me think the lead guy has a big Jim Morrison influence too, tries to sing like him, fails, as do the lyrics 'lets grow old together and die at the same time' ? agree with the Joy division/editors comments, editiors rip Joy division off too but they are a massive influence in a lot of bands im guessin

im not too impressed, tried to listen to the album, but just gave up. everyone is raving over them cus of that bbc list thing....madness. That BBC thing is rubbish, however in my opinion White Lies are justified of recieving a tag as something to watch for. I saw them quite a while back and Live they are very good. I can understand why people would find them boring. The lyrics are depressing. They are fully aware of this and the result of this is that they end up getting bored with performing them themselves, which is never a great thing. Going back to the BBC thing. It happens all the time. If someone recommends a band people are obviously going to take a bit more notice. I mean, look at Glasvegas. Overhyped. Their music is mondane and boring. Lyrics depressing. Yet they get Radio 1 air play. they get Carl Barat raving about them and they are everyones fav band somehow. That is madness. White Lies might just be the new Glasvegas in that respect.

benraul is right on the money with the glasvegas comment, nothing bores me more than if one of their records comes on. id rather have something poppy and mainstream even.
i dont mind that "lets grow old together" thingy song. just newt spesh.
