I've only recently started listening to Elbow, much to my detrement, and I must admit I've been blown away. I've only listened to Seldom Seen Kid though I'm going to delve further into the back catalogue, I'm well impressed by it. Dont really know how its passed me by but I'm glad I've started listening to them. It's top stuff. I've never really liked Pink Floyd either. Does nothing for me at all. U2, good in their time and still can whack out a few tunes that are very popular and that but I'm doubtful of how long they've got left in them really, it'd be a shame to see them turn into what the Stones are now. The first album Zane Lowe ever bought was War by U2, interestingly

Its amazing how many people are talking about / listening to Elbow for the first time considering they have been around for so long. Alot of people think they are a new band.

Ian - I think it's time to call it quits mate or it could carry on - I will just bite my tongue Come on let's all have a line and be happy!!
Back to the Elbow posts - Yeah I've been listening to them since the 90's Just shows that the hard work can pay off but they must be a great bunch of lads, have some great contacts and that to have gone on without any decent recognition for so long

I like alot of you have only heard Seldom Seen Kid, and I also love it, I will get time to listen to more with some luck. I've never bothered with Pink Floyd, and I don't think I will. If I were Bono I would call it a day after this album, after a few listens it is truly amazing, and it would be a great way for them to go out, hope you all agree if you listen to it.

Dontask, you have to go and delve into the Elbow back catelogue. Check out the album 'Leaders of the free world'. Infact, dont even research it just go and buy it. Brilliant album. Then buy 'Cast Of Thousands' another top album of theirs. I find it hard to decide which is better but for now I am saying leaders of the Free world, just cos I have played cast of thousands to f*ck. If you go on to youtube check out a song of theirs called McGreggor. Infact I will do it for you. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Scz4hf4vhVcThis isnt on any of their albums, but its so good. Love the opening lines. After you have done those two albums then go for Asleep in the Back. Still a top album but I would say go for those ones first.

Absolutely dontask. PLenty of time.
That Love album is good but its a mish-mash of songs. Try Revolver and Abbey Road. She Came In through the Bathroom Window is a great tune. Short and sweet, check it out. One my fav Beatles tracks.

On the Beatles. That 'love' album is basically a greatest hits type thing. My personal faves are 'Please Please Me' and 'The Beatles (white album)'. Though all albums are truly amazing in their own right, my opinion on the white album has always been that if they got rid of some of the crap like 'piggies' and 'revolution 9' then it would be their greatest album, some songs like 'Back to the USSR' and 'Revolution' are truly magic, give it a listen.

I was playing White Album (disc 1) on my phone before and my dog tok a liking to Piggies, which is another one of the crap songs on it.
Revolver is another immense album I forgot to mention, it's that sound that attracted me to the La's that is also in Revolver, really jumpy and quality melodies.
