I thought Bide Your Time and NNF were top....know what you mean about NYD NYD and If It Wasn't for Me, and I prefer How Come in its native acoustic state, but other than that its almost flawless. I sort of prefer the organ to the guitar intro, both would be good together I reckon

Few great moments, although I didn't go, the Apollo double sounded pretty epic. The album release of course. A personal favourite was Liams reply to the guardian review, I've read it so many times, this afternoon in fact, it was just like kicking them right in the bollocks and saying 'f*ck off'. I think that was one of my favourites too, I liked it when the writer tried saying Liam wrote a lyric about wanting to poke someone in the eye with a needle and Liam simply repiled; "and for the record it was arm" Proper classic that ;D

St. Jude...St. Jude...St. Jude...St. Jude...St. Jude...St. Jude...St. Jude... Yeah it's got to be getting out their album! I think we were spoilt with all the cracking demos before that when I first heard St. Jude I was like "It's good but I prefer....blah blah" Didn't take long to love it though and I haven't stopped listening since! Definitely my most played album of 2008... ...I can't really say any gigs but a kind-of related one is Cal giving out the S&C Glastonbury flyer I had professionally printed. So yeah Glasto has to be a the gig of the year and the band haven't stopped growing with all the gigs abroad and that they are getting to be a really popular band... who cares who does or doesn't like them, The Courteeners are going to be massive On a personal note; a few special moments for me was to get a nice thanks from Liam for doing all the flyers over the last 6 months and the championing of S&C from Liam too ;D

I would say for them the most important moment must have been the album coming out....12 (13) of your lifes work out there. And the fact they have developed such a loyal fanbase that a really passionate about their music and the band.
For me personally it was the acadamey gig in April. Couldn't go to my local gig (newc) so took my housemate to Manchester was possibly the best gig I've been to in my life. Seen them twice before but this was post St Jude so I knew all the words and the ppl at the gig were so friendly...not sure I'll be able to recreate a nite like that! and I've also had a couple of personal messages from liam in response to things I've sent him so that was nice.
Also have enjoyed spreading the word of the wonder of the courteeners - I reckon if ppl had to sum me up in two words it would be: Courteeners and Westies! cos I am usually banging out about one or the other!

I know, 2008 was the year I got into music, in August 2007 my uncle got me The Stone Roses, on the release of Acrylic in october, I found the courteeners, from the courteeners I got into The Smiths, The Jam, The Beatles (who of course I knew, just wasn't a big fan.), and when I heard the line 'because you said you never ever heard of the La's', I thought 'who are the la's?' So I went on amazon and picked up the 2001 version of the album for a few quid, and listened. It all went up from there, as far as I know, I have everything they've ever recorded, Lost La's, BBC sessions, Mike Badger stuff with a few old live stuff, bit obsessed. I recommend the 'Breakloose: Lost La's' CD, it's great to hear how songs evolve, such as one called 'my girl sits like a reindeer', the same rif and chords as Feelin' on the album, but a completely different song. Sorry for my life story, all a bit hectic...........

Seriously, it's become an obsession now, sad guy aren't I.
Got Japanese re-release of the album last week, it has some amazing songs I've never heard, 'who knows' is a brilliant track, 'endless' is another I hadn't heard. The only songs I haven't heard are 'the human race', which is supposed to be sensational, and 'gimme the blues'. That's from what I know anyway.
If you're just downloading a few matt4d then I recommend Feelin', probably my favourite along with Looking Glass. Enjoy.

last friday i was doing a long journey, and couldnt be bothered to keep selecting songs on my ipod, so i was mooching about on it & found top 25 most played. 19 of these 25 were courteeners songs, that showed me how much i love them.
