aslong as a band member realises that we are up to good stuff on here, then thats all that matters. the band are the main priority, thats why we go on here and talk about the band, not about the management.

agree with lots of people in here, kinney, cal and fergal - like whats been said before - perhaps a link from the official site to the forum - been posted in the newsletter - but we would lose like forum cds and such if it got into the hands of the wrong person

I like the way it is - liam acknowledges the forum and likes it, and has pointed his finger towards here

Yes I have in June, the thread was called If S&C became the official band forum... and is in the Forum Info board.

(Puts bad head on)... please I'd just like to remind you to search for the subject before starting new thread as we do end up with similar threads unused, thank you.

i agree with kimmy tbh. if we became official, there'd be terms and conditions to abide by and things would obviously change. Remember the whole t-shirt saga and how the band's management stepped in and screwed up the whole project up for us? If we became official, we'd be dealing with problems like that day in day out because of all the good stuff that is suggestes and and discussed on here. like kimmy said, no badges, no CD and more importantly no file sharing! For me, that is what music is all about. sharing and enjoying it and supporting bands who make music worth sharing.

We're good as we are, and the band recognise that. I'll take that.

What about SEMI-OFFICIAL?

I'm sure some bands are like The Courteeners, they don't have a forum themselves as other fans have done the same as me, created one when first getting into the band, so leaving the band to kind-of use the forum as it's own.

Can't remember the names 'cos I just don't go on other bands forums any more

So if S&C were given this right, let's say a link on their sites, S&C left the way it is and we get some backing from the label/band etc with permission to do our own merch etc, then I'd go for that

If that were to happen I'd be over the moon!

the courteeners tried to get an official forum going, but this forum burned it, then it eventually closed down.....

with threads such as:

'whos favourite song is acrylic?'
'liam fray is well fit'

that forum was always going to fail.

I want it to stay as it is, i don't really want "the man" getting his mits on this site. I agree that were going along fine as we are. The people on here are great. Why should threads be deleted at all just because the management deem them offensive.

That oasis site Live 4 Ever is better than oasisinet.com and what ever the record label decided to do no other Courteeners site will be as good as this one, it's getting well established and recognition from the band which in its self is amazing.

Lets stay the factory records of forum site's, keep it real and die in our own piss!!!!

But links from facebook and the band site would be good....everyone concerned with the band should all have the same approach to spread the word of the band anyway, as some pompous arse once said "there's no such thing as bad publicity". I'll have some of that!!!

Anyway, all the speculation about S&C being official or not has finally been answered:

Alright Darren,

The forum doesn't need to official. In my eyes that defeats the point. it's getting along fine, ive sent people in your direction and they seem to be doing so.

Things like merchandise won't happen because every band has a merch-deal. It has nothing to do with the management, it is the merchandising company, and they own rights to a bands image/images/logos etc. This has to happen otherwise everybody would be producing Nike t-shirts.

I suppose it's semi-official, it's unique in the sense that it is the most popular forum for the band (and only as far as I know), but it isn't officially linked to the bands website and that.

haha sorry kinney, but i've never even noticed that before! only ever seen the kokaine and just assumed the rest
