I was reading on the internet the other day about coming up releases, you know like Kings of Leon and Oasis, and then I realised that Kaiser Chiefs had slipped everyones mind, so I went on wikipedia to read abou the new album as everyone does with wikipedia, and it quoted this:
The album was originally slated to be released on 6 October 2008, but was put back a week later, due to the announcement that Oasis would release their forthcoming album on the same date - perhaps due to the reason that Oasis are certain to top the album charts. The Kaiser Chiefs were criticised for pulling out of a potential chart battle, with the media claiming they had 'bottled it'.
Now seriously, if you are releasing your third album now, and are already a well known band across the country, then why do this, as much as I dislike the Kaisers it makes me wonder why they should bottle it??? Now surely they would have sold more if they released it at the same time, most enthusiasts would walk into HMV or wherever to get Dig out your Soul and look to the right and think, "oh, a new kaiser chiefs album, I like them, I think I'll get that."
I just can't get to grips why they should move it on a week, this could have been the battle of the past few years in terms of Rock albums!! Now when it is released, most people would have bought Dig out your Soul and the record shops won't be as busy.
It's a simple business mistake that was stupid!! Why the f*ck did they do this?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
