haha you went through with the dare. shameful that you dont appreciate them. what was so great about them was everything, well everything up until the second coming, which was dire. everything from like '86 to '90 was pure genius, era defining and massively influencial. plus ian brown is the man, and john squire is too (albeit a bit of a wierdo), and mani, and reni, its the perfect 4 piece

Ste , I am a fan of Oasis , i think that they are a great band. I have only ever seen them play once at the City of Manchester Stadium in 2005, and it was wonderful to see them play live. However what saddens me about Oasis is that they have to carry with them a large baggage (indeed seemingly the vast majority) of their followers who seem to think that Oasis are the pinnacle of musical excellence and nothing and no-one is able to offer any other argument in retaliation to this point. These people (such as yourself) find great excitement when Liam Gallagher makes some type of reference to his Cocaine sniffing, and love nothing more than declaring that i love the Gallagher brothers because they "do what they want" and "don't give a s**t". Oasis are a truly great band , they defined the 90's and will forever be remembered for providing great music, but please try not to look at the music scene past and present through your Gallagher tinted-spectacles which see nothing but Oasis, Oasis , Oasis . I wont start a thread to defend The Stone Roses because the wonder of their music speaks for itself.

Well, considering i think the past 2 Oasis albums were bollocks and Noel cant write songs anymore, I dont think i own a pair of 'Gallagher tinted spectacles' thank you.
No were in my previous statement did i say i was in anyway in love with Liam Gallaghers antics, nor did i say i only care about Oasis, because to be honest there finished now.
I said they WERE the only band that i can understand being as huge as they were.
So yea, you made alot of sense mate.

The Clash were a mint band, great songwriting and generally icons, the Pistols were ace too, people say they couldnt play or whatever but the songs were ace. i saw um last year and it was a bit of a pantomime to be fair but the songs still shined through.
i love Oasis and The Roses n all.
i think if a band has a reputation as a good band, no matter what your musical taste, you have to sit back and think "Why do they have this rep?" blah blah.
a good band is a good band regardless of what your into
god its late. bedtime

"pregnant dog boy" agrees with cal on this one, there are a lot of bands i dislike (none of the ones you mentioned though ste) yet i still respect and understand why they have such a massive reputation for being great. and yeah, oasis carry a lot of fans who think that nothing comes close to oasis when even oasis themselves adore and take huge influence from such bands as the stone roses, the sex pistols and the beatles. same people who also dislike the last album because it was different to the usual oasis sound as well....

i still think the stone roses debut is as relevant today as it was when it was released (and i'm such an old cnut i can remember that day very well). it's even bigger for those of us who remember when it came out though as before then, it was a musical wasteland. they changed music. full stop. oasis simply wouldn't have happened without the stone roses. they might still have been a big band but they wouldn't have sounded anything like they did. each to their own opinion and all that, music is subjective after all, but to call them sh*t is a bit much, i think!
they changed everything.

Ste, i think that what i said certainly makes sense, i am sorry that you were unable to understand. Maybe i have made a mistake? Let's go through things again You think that: The Stone Roses are s**t, and you could argue this is also the case with The Beatles The Who The Sex Pistols The Clash
I think that you are nieve for making such an outlandish statement.

Gotta agree with Campbell ( ) Those bands are the only bands you need ever listen to, because all you hear now is a ripped off from them!! (not saying thats bad) Me personally I think the Rose's COULD have been up there with the Beatles. They made some of the most outstanding 'pop' records. The Music, The Words The Production are all outstanding. Sorry if you disagree Ste because your really missing out!!

another interesting thought, ste, is that all the bands you listed as ovverated (politely put) are oasis' biggest influences, besides the clash, who are an all time great band anyway and who have also had a massive impact on music, particularly the libertines of whom you are a fan of

Erm no Cambell, you were making out that, in my first post i was going on how i was madly in love with Liam Gallagher's drug habit when cleary I was statimg that i dont understand why The Stone Roses are so epic.
You just said... "Maybe i have made a mistake? Let's go through things again...
You think that: The Stone Roses are s**t, and you could argue this is also the case with The Beatles The Who The Sex Pistols The Clash"
Lets go through things again? This is completely different from your last post you bell end. Not only are you failing to go through it again but you are trying to start a new argument cause u know i beat u at the last one.
And BTW are u actually called Campbell? If your not i could easily say ur equaly as up the drummers ass, as i am (according to you) Liam Gallagher

Yes my surname is Campbell, sorry to disappoint you Ste , so you wont be able to say to me how "equaly as up the drummers ass i am" (another outstanding argument proposed by yourself incidently).
You listed your post "The Stone Roses are s**t did" did you not?
I don't believe that i said that you were madly in love with Liam Gallagher's drug habit, i believe the quote i used you was :
"people (such as yourself) find great excitement when Liam Gallagher makes some type of reference to his Cocaine sniffing, and love nothing more than declaring that i love the Gallagher brothers because they "do what they want" and "don't give a s**t""
The above statement i stand by. Your post since has only served to amuse me, i particularly enjoyed these parts: "You bell end" "You are trying to start a new argument cause u know i beat u at the last one"
Just one more thing Ste, how long have you been a member of the Kersal Massive?
