Since I received the legal notice I have replied to the merchandiser with my apologies and asking them if there is any way they could let me go ahead with production the t-shirt.

We will have to wait and see if I even get a reply.

I have also been contacted by the company who were going to print the t-shirts and they have said if they know anyone within the official merchandisers, they will ask them about the whole situation ;D

I emailed them back this afternoon as I got home early from work.
I have given them the information to see if they can help us out.

Fingers crossed they know someone.

Right, I'm gonna to put my serious head on for this one

I would like to make it clear that this t-shirt cannot be produced even if we are not given permission from the merchandisers.

I will not release it underground or by any other means, this would just be suicide!

I have started to gain some good contacts who have been really good to me and have helped out with my queries and much more (you'll have to wait and see but I've got some good news coming very soon I really can't say any more about this yet).

I will not jeopardize all the effort that has made us grow into a community from the very beginning when we were just a forum

Please do not ask me to release the t-shirt.

So to sum it all up, it's all waiting now, let's all hope something positive will come from my emails and I like Cardinals of Langley's way of thinking...

The only suggestion that I could make if you really wanted to still produce the t-shirts would be... write to them and say that you will reluctantly agree to what they have said and remove selling of the stuff... and then ask tell them how popular the designs have been etc and if they wanted you to work with them as a designer etc you would be prepared help them come up with some stuff... could be a possible route into that kind of career...

Even if it was just to work with them to find out what I can use on the t-shirt to get it released, that would be even better!

Things may look at bit more positive as I received a short and sweet email from the merhandisers.

Basically they said thanks for my prompt response and they will discuss my request with the bands management.

I'm not going to jump to any conclusions at this stage

real shame this has been put on "temporary" hold - I am using temporary because I hope this project will get up and running in some way or form, we all have, and especially darren - put shite loads of effort into making a good job


hopefully the merchandisers actually have some sense and will compromise in some sorts - but they are a business and do have themselves to look out for


hope something does come out positive because of this cause if nowt does it'll be really dissapointing for everyone involved thusfar

Im not sure whether this was what you meant but could you not just ask the merchandiser's to produce the shirt and let them sell it, but just to us, so they have the deal and we will probably have to pay more but its worth it
That way we get our shirt, they get the exclusiveness still and even though they wont get a massive profit they should still allow it cause its them that have caused the problems
We would have to make sure they will only allow members to get hold of it though otherwise its not worth doing??

this is an utter joke, and the courteeners management and everyone involved should be bloody well ashamed of themselves. corporate pricks bloody hell. there's darren trying to PROMOTE the band! we're the only courteeners fans community going as far as I know! we're the biggest fans the band have!

darren mate you should be proud of what you've done as regards the forum, the community, the tshirt, everyting. there can be absolutely no blame on your part. nice one.

Thanks for your support Matt but please don't blame anyone for this, I have had support and genuine help from the management since this matter has been brought to their attention.

Slip Stream have also kindly said they will discuss my request of 'any way of getting the t-shirt produced', which is very good of them considering I never asked them before putting it on sale.

It's out of the managements hands, as a deal was signed for slip stream to have exclusive rights to manufacture and sell their merchandise.

Yes it's a shame slip stream stepped in but probably did help me a lot as I was almost there with the printers.
Imagine if the t-shirt had been printed and then I got the legal notice, now that would have been sickening!

I calmed myself down after my original announcement as there was no point getting worked up, it would have just put a stop to the project there and then if I had ranted on to everyone

Now I just want to calm you lot down, looking at it from their side and approaching them with politeness may have thrown us a bit of a lifeline ;D

That's a shame - corporate b*****ks is always trying to spoil ppls fun - why is everything about money! If you wanna make a tshirt you should be allowed to make a tshirt..I can understand their point - the courteeners is a brand now and they have paid for the rites to sell that brand. I work in marketing so branding is in my remit...

In a way it's the same as us making nike tshirt if you look at in simple t&cs...

Doesn't make it rite though - if you want to make a tshirt to show your support then why should n't you! the world has gone mad!

Sorry Darren for all the work you have put in but hopefully we will be able to come to some compromise..the tshirt designs need to be approved by the official merchandisers and can be sold as long as no profit is made? That is the only way I can see it working going forward.

It's been all quite since last weekend until yesterday, I received an email from The Courteeners actual manager.

He asked for my phone number so he could have a quick chat with me

I immediately replied, let's hope it's something to do with the t-shirt and I get the call today
