The forum doesn't need the added loading times of the default ads, so I paid for us to be ad-free for either the month or 50,000 page views

It's all good though, removing the ads also benefit the look of the forum, they may have been related in some kind of fashion but they were ugly!

By the way, did anyone notice the difference of loading/refresh rates without the ads last month?

I have brought credits so S&C is ad free for September and November.

Don't know about you lot but I was sick of them, especially that Pigeon Detectives ad

I wasn't particularly bothered by them, as my internet blocks out alots of adds anyway. plus, doesn't it benefit the forum's finances by having advertising around the site?

It's the nasty ad above the boards that I don't like, very random ads that don't have anything to do with the band!

I'm afraid all ads are paid to proboards as this is what it relies on to keep it free and if we don't want the ads, credits can be purchased to remove them.

I tried it without the ads before and thought the place looked better and without the added loading times of the ads surely it's better for everyone

I knew I had purchased credits to make us ad free up until the end of october so wondered why the ads were back??

After a bit more delving I found out that 7 credits (which are applied to the months) gets 50,000 page views of no ads.

Wow that must mean S&C is getting quite a lot of views then!

The ads have been back for around a week so I may have to start buying 14 credits for each month and see if 100,000 page views is enough for a month

Just had a message form cb about the advertisements at the top of the page as he has never seen them before ;D

Well, this to refresh you all, proboards forums are free to have, so they put adverts in to help do that but any forum can purchase credits which can be applied to having a month ad-free.

Anyway, S&C has had 50,000 page views this month so my credits have been used for this month.

Back to S&C being add-free in October

The advertisements have only been back a few days and I'm sick of seeing them already.... roll on October!

Wouldn't be so bad if they were relevant but those bloody "Are you single" ads wind me up

January will be Ad-Free as I had 7 credits left in my account but only to members who sign-in (guests will see them).

I can't justify buying any more credits for the foreseeable future, so after this month everyone will have to put up with them... sorry

It's $1 a credit, so $7 for 50,000 page views; minimum you can assign to each month.

So that would only be about £4 a month... still it's 4 quid more than I can afford at the moment.

It's funny because I've had quite a few messages in the past saying I should have a donations button etc... never bothered me before but since I'm going through a rocky patch it would now help me keep the forum going.

I could set something up for donations that will go straight to the forum's credits??

Other things like domain renewal fees, image/file hosting could be incorporated too, don't know really??

I'll have a think about it & to any doubters it wouldn't be forced or any profit making scheme... hence the word 'donation', anything is a bonus and will help S&C
