Any coral fans on here?? went to see the coral last october, with courteeners supporting, was a cracking evening. Rumours of a split in the band, after guitarist Bill Ryder-Jones quit. Such a shame, as they are creators of one of the best albums of last year, in Roots and Echoes. Overall, quality outfit. Shame they are scousers tho! Oh well! Can't have everything!

They are amazing, very under rated.
Seen them loads of times, most recently at last years T in the park on the Friday. The weather was awfull but they still pulled a decent enough crowd.

Quality, one of my favourite bands. Love all four albums and think they're quality live.

Five albums (well, the Invisible Invasion and Nightfreak were a bit sh*t actually) full of quality, particularly the first album and Roots and Echoes. Immense live band. The only 3 current bands who I can think of who have songwriting abilities rivalling that of the Coral is the Courteeners, The Cribs and Babyshambles. Should be huge, never will be sadly.

I agree. when the corals self titles album came out the songs on there were and still are so different to everything out there at the moment. Ahead of their time. Maybe to clever for the modern music scene.

Is the singles collection worth getting or is it better to just get the albums?

I got the singles collection yesterday, I have never heard any of the albums, only a couple of simgles, but it is really good, great selection of tunes. I'd suggest getting the singles collection first, it really got me into them. There were a sticker on the front actully with a quote from Noel Gallagher and he said something like "The Coal are so far ahead of their time it is a joke, they are in a class of their own." So maybe that is why they have been on the fringes, I myself have hardly heard anything other than the singles collection so I have little opinion on them but I'am starting to get into them.

There off there nuts them Lads.....In a good way. Calenders and Clocks is absolutley mind bending as is that first album. I think all there recent singles have been a bit bland and they dont really show the band off very well. In The Rain is one of my favourite tunes. Mr Skelly reminds me of Lee Mathers with his voice, I saw them play an acoustic set supporting Noel at the TCT gig at the Albert Hall and they were excellent. Its not that his voice is amazing or powerfull but its just cool. There seems to be this distinct Liverpool/Skiffle sound at the momment which is La's like, no else sounds like them. Because no else has the balls, they always try new things (fair play they dont always work) but I love it. If Lee Mather had written some of those songs He'd be regonized as one of the best songwritters going. Mike do yourself a favour go and buy that first album. You can get it for about £4. Its better than that money maker and IMO some of the recent singles are a bit boring!! *Actually just looked at the double cd version of the greatist hits and some of those tunes are great too....... *
