Very sad I know, but I couldn't wait until I got in tonight to hear it, so I bought it off itunes last night and listened to it in bed at 10 past 6 this morning before I got up for work :-) Bit weird first time round after being so used to the demos, but I just gave it a second play when I was sweating it out on the thigh trainer thingy, and it's sounding good. It'll just take a bit of readjusting I reckon... proper loving If It Wasn't For Me & Please don't at the min though!
Althouuuugh..... I must admit, and I almost shudder to say this, I do agree with the NME on Kings of the New Road... bit grim that!
Other than that though!

bit wierd that they have left tracks 13-20 with nothing on them and stuck acrylic as "chapter 21"
WTF does that mean?

at the end of the last tour there were courteeners t-shirts with audrey hepburn stepping out of a doorway on.
The album, great.
Track by track it's a masterpiece, the tracks i have loved for the last 18 months have finally made it to album and it's awesome.
The production is... different. Oh Aftershow, its quite weird, not too keen on what's been done there. But Kings Of The New Road, and Fallowfield Hillbilly sound exceptional.
I fully expect the next single to be Please Don't it's a great track, and I assume they'll want to show off their mellower side. But I would love for KOTNR or Fallowfield to be released, Kings probably isn't radio friendly, and apparently "people wouldn't get fallowfield hillbilly outside of manchester" We'll see.
Non-the-less, a great album and the band deserve every success, not only for the album, but for giving me another reason to be proud of being mancunian.

Anyone know if itunes downloads count towards the "proper" charts as it's number 1 on itunes today, ahead of Duffy and REM. Got tempted on itunes and "completed" my album + the bonus live tracks for £7.20 which I didn't think was a bad deal.

Oh Aftershow, its quite weird, not too keen on what's been done there. But Kings Of The New Road, and Fallowfield Hillbilly sound exceptional. obviously personal choice, but i feel the exact opposite of that tbh love what they've done to aftershow, its an awesome opening track, really gets you into the album and excited about whats to come if you know what i mean. and for me, fallowfield hillbilly was better in its raw form that i've always listened too. like you said, its a proper mancunian song and noone else would really truly get it, but i feel its bin over-tampered with, and the "can you f**k!" at the end isn't as clear and domineering as it used to be. that was one of the lines tht made the song truly stand out for me. but yh, personal choice aint it =)
