Tragic news for me, the legacy will be destroyed. The legend and the mystery that surrounded the roses were what made them such a seminal band. The gigs at heaton park will be full of drink fuelled Oasis Louts, which is never what the stone roses were all about. I was at Spike Island not the greatest gig of my Life, but the mood of a generation were reflected in the day. Had emails all day from younger friends under 38! claiming it was their opportunity to see them live. Well I never saw the Smiths, but sometimes you have to accept it just wasn't your time.

cant wait, dont care how good or how shit it will be, just some decent music and a bit of a throwback... hjopefully some deceny support acts too, make it a madchester day out.

I have a feeling the band will support at this. Liam posted a picture from what seemed like the front row of the conference and it says it starts at 2pm, leaving the bill open. They're probably the biggest Manchester band around at the moment too, so it'd make sense. Just a hunch.

It would be amazing if the band did, great experience for them and great exposure.
Also for the record, I'm delighted The Roses are back! It probably has destroyed the legacy a bit but I'm selfish and really want to see them. I'm not a lout though, I do appreciate their music and their impact on me and my musical influences.

Didn't get tickets for Manchester as took the opinion that they would headline the festivals just like Blur did when they sold out Hyde Park. First band announced for TITP 2012 - The Stone Roses! Not sure if the band will get a slot at the Manchester gigs - don't want the upstarts upstaging the headliners now do we  lgb |

f*ck me, what a weekend, no legacy has been tarnished, no keeping it in te past, it was there it was done it felt fucking good and it happened..
mentaly magic and f*ck anyo ther gigs this year if you were not there then you missed out on an event of a lifetime.
