Spector
Spector are a five piece indie band from London who've started making small waves in the indie blogosphere, and deservedly so. Fresh from making an appearance on the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds festival, they released single 'What You Wanted' on Luv Luv Records. Before that came the song that got them noticed, 'Never Fade Away'. A synth driven indie gem, which builds up to a brilliant climax with soaring vocals and tribal drumming, it's a mature song written by someone who you suspect has been in the game for a while. Frontman of the band is Fred Macpherson, who may be better known as the rather ridiculous Frederick Blood Royale, member of the now split Les Incompetes and Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man. After failing to make an impact with his last two bands, the man who three years ago was making the pages in the Daily Mail from his relationship with Peaches Geldof, has started this new project. The early signs are promising, both singles are indie anthems in waiting and people are starting to take notice. The band has recently supported Kaiser Chiefs, as well as reportedly signing a massive deal with Fiction, an imprint of Island Records. As the lyrics of first single 'Never Fade Away' go, "You know I'll never fade away", and it looks like Macpherson is doing just that, and you wouldn't bet against him getting it right one day, if he hasn't already..
