Tribes
Hailing from Camden, Tribes are a four piece specializing in a breed of indie rock that's all about the riffs. They've been around for a year now, on the radars of various music magazines without doing anything noteworthy. All that changed with the release of their first single, 'We Were Children'. Released alongside an EP of the same name, it's a grungy, sing-a-long filled anthem in waiting that gained the band a dedicated following (they have various DIY street teams set up all over the UK), and ensured that they became a band worth checking out. Coverage in the NME is now regular, aswell as a piece in Q Magazine highlighting new bands. Tribes spent the best part of a year releasing poorly recorded demos and touring up and down the country, supporting bands such as Mystery Jets in their distinctive white van, trademarked by their 'Tribes' marking on the outside. More high profile support slots follow as does a UK tour sandwiched inbetween their slots with Kaiser Chiefs and The Kooks. A new single named 'Sappho' was recently released, alongside b-side 'Sent To Earth'. Both are very impressive, with the a-side expected to feature on upcoming, Island backed album 'Baby', released January 2012. With a release date previously set for October 2011, it's clear that with major label backing, Tribes feel they can become the next big thing, and you wouldn't bet against them.
