Miles Kane - Rearrange
Anyone who has seen Miles Kane live, on his own or in support of the various bands he's been seen with, will have surely been impressed with the array of solo songs he has showcased. The fact that he has already released two albums, with The Rascals and Last Shadow Puppets, just goes to show that he's not lacking in craftmanship, as proved again in his latest release. At times it's felt that Kane has been taken along for a ride with the help of the likes of Alex Turner, and has nothing more to offer than a contributor, but in Rearrange we find a vicious live track, complete with a 60's style solo. Rearrange offers a summery feel, before breaking into a fierce solo which is truly in its' element live. The production on this newly released, at the moment only digital, single is what lets it down however. What was an electric, fiery guitar song live has been turned into an attempt to appeal to the radio and the song suffers as a result. With previous Inhaler you had a song with a raw production, reflecting raspy, Lennon esque vocals from Kane, where's his voice has been smoothed infinitely with this release. Lyrically it's not superb, but Kane has never been famed for his lyrical prowess. The end result is sure to be enjoyed by many, but for others it may be a let down due to the over produced nature of the recording.
Out on iTunes now, released physically and properly on 30th May.
