snortingandcavorting.com/index.cgi?board=otherbands&action=display&thread=1535Last year's thread. Just a little opinion on some of the main 'breaking' artists of next year. Brother - Good tunes so far, meant to be good live but the singer needs to keep his mouth shut. The Vaccines - A little bit hit and miss so far. A couple of good tunes but they don't look to me like the future of guitar music. MONA - Very good from what I've heard so far, worth looking out for. Anna Calvi - Sounds so so so so so bad. James Blake - Some kind of dubsteppy, remixer. What I heard was boring. Warpaint - Album already out, just seemed a bit weird. Really not got much hope for anyone breaking through next year apart from MONA and Brother, we'll see. Anyone got any opinions on other acts I've missed out or opinions?

Do acts like Beady Eye or Miles Kane fit the bill or are they slightly different because they are not an unknown quantity?

I suppose they could couldn't they as they are new artists. Not expecting loads from Beady Eye to be honest.

I'm in two minds. They had an interview in the NME and everything they said sounded really promising then again that could just be media hype.
I'm looking forward to it being a massive Oasis fan and I think it could surprise a few people pure because of how different it may be. Oasis and Noel Gallagher songs became too structured and too transparent.
I'm a rock'n'roll man and all this indie shit does my head in, there are very few modern bands that grab my interest and these are one of them.

I read the interview from the issue just out and I thought he came across as an arrogant idiot, he rarely seems to be able to back it up and always slags off new bands which I find very annoying. I'll let the music do the talking though.
