- The Crookes A band sprouting from the same place as indie pioneers Arctic Monkeys, you'd be forgiven for thinking The Crookes would be in the same vein as the aforementioned, however that is not the case. All living there but not born, the four piece formed in 2008 to acclaim from NME, Jon McClure, Richard Hawley and Steve Lamacq while recording a session for Jarvis Cocker. They create sweet, poetic indie with intricate lyrics that have been compared to 1950's playrights, Angry Young Men. The hook that the band have is this classic twist, with dashing guitars and classic lyrics and croon, the young four piece are one for the future, with fast selling single's under their belt, a new eight track EP is readied for release in the forthcoming week. With Noel Gallagher describing the lyrical content bluntly as, "they've got good lyrics. All bands from Sheffield have good lyrics", can they be ignored? twitter.com/TheCrookesmyspace.com/thecrookesmusic A free song from the upcoming EP for your pleasure, courtesy of the band themselves; soundcloud.com/thecrookes/somewhere-over-the-bus-stop
