Yet another band being carried on a role of hype, HURTS finally release their debut single, 'Better Than Love'. Previous songs posted on the band's Myspace managed to stir up enough talk for them to appear in the BBC Sound Of.. and a feature in NME, meaning expectation is high for them to deliver. The song starts off with strong vocals, against a catchy electro beat and the vocals smoothly crooning against it. Throughout the song this is constant, and it sounds like a genuine hit in waiting, whether it will be a hit remains to be seen, but from the song it's clear that HURTS have potential. The underlying fact is that the duo can produce songs with real quality, and can easily replicate the quality of chart acts whilst staying true to their values and a credible act. Potentially the next big thing from Manchester, HURTS are one to watch.
