well they were saying as well that it only takes up about 2 per cent of the radio budget. it's like do we really want to hear the courteeners, owl city, the drums, lady gaga. no, it won't work. plus, what good tv is on bbc anymore?! only thing i ever consider watching is Doctor Who.

It's too easy to just sl*g off the BBC, there's a lot of quality stuff on there. A lot of what's on BBC4, some of BBC, a lot of the documentaries, the bulk of the drama, Five Days that's been on this week has been fantastic. Produced some of the most succesful comedies and dramas of recent years, see also Gavin and Stacey, Doctor Who and Life on Mars, gives great writers a platform, see also Jimmy McGovern's the Street, and has a top notch radio output mostly. They get more bad press than they deserve, though their output this Christmas was appalling and now that it's looking like 6Music and Asian Network are on the way out it's not going to look too good for them.

BBC is brilliant, problem is corporate bigwigs and unfortunately they're bowing to them at the moment. I quite like listening to a radio station knowing that a heap of shit isn't coming my way (see-radio one playlist) after the shitty celebrity dj has finished waffling on.
If it does close a sad day for decent music.

BBC Radio 6 will have had any up and coming band that is worth listening to on it in the last few years, everyone's been on it.
